Role:
The Architectural Communication Director will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of the studio’s high-end residential projects by creating an outstanding experience for our clients and our team members. The ideal candidate will be a natural leader with excellent communication skills. This role is not about designing our projects, but rather helping us design the best experience for all people involved. That said, we believe it is imperative that this person understands the single family residential design & construction process enough to help guide our clients through many of their questions throughout their time with us.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring their needs are met, and their expectations are exceeded throughout the residential project lifecycle, from early concept and programming through construction administration.
- Foster a positive and collaborative team environment, promoting open communication, teamwork, and knowledge sharing with a variety of internal stakeholders, including architects and designers, operations and procurement, and marketing.
- Develop and steward project schedules (weeks to months in advance), working closely with Directors, Project Managers & General Contractors to delegate deliverables, with the aim of keeping the timeline on track.
- Regularly meet with clients to understand design needs and expectations. Advocate for them to the team through accurate recording and delivering of meeting minutes.
- Identify and mitigate project risks and issues, and escalate as needed to ensure timely resolution.
- Provide regular project updates to the team, including status reports, presentations, and other communication materials as needed.
- Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains to enhance project delivery.
- Perform regular budget reviews by phase with the client.
- Monitor firm budget and forecast, including project profitability reports and hourly budget reports.
- Approve project billing according to phase completion and percent completion.
- Alongside a Partner, lead some initial meetings with potential clients using the studio’s pre-made presentations & curated meeting formats.
Employment Details:
- This is a full-time position with a healthy live/work balance (40 hrs/wk)
- Hybrid remote/in-person environment with 3 days/wk in-studio
- Typical working hours are 9:00am - 6:00pm, Mon - Fri
- Starting Salary Range between $95k - $115k

Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a people-facing architectural role like Project Manager, Project Architect, or similar
- 10+ years of experience working in the Architecture, Engineering or Construction Industry (AEC)
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate with clients, team members, and stakeholders at all levels
- Highly organized with the ability to manage many projects at once
- Ability to work from our Long Island City studio 3 days/wk (minimum)
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US
Highly Desired:
- Valid Driver’s License
- Proficiency in project management tools and software
- Experience working in Archicad or Revit
- Strong industry connections, with a knack for establishing relationships
