Requirements
The position will report to the Senior Associate Commissioner and will have responsibilities in the areas of public relations, digital communications and competition.
Public Relations: This position will lead the public relations strategy for the League focused on local, regional and national media relationships and coverage. This position will provide regular outreach, cultivation, and ideation of League storylines to generate earned media for League and our members. Additionally, they will execute public relations, promotional and marketing efforts for the Barbasol Horizon League Basketball Championships.
Communications: This position will lead all aspects of communications for designated League sports including, but not limited to: weekly announcements, weekly awards, statistics and postseason coverage. They will attend championship events and provide lead communications coverage and travel to select regular season and postseason events. This position will also co-lead the strategy for the creation, development, production and deployment of Horizon League content on all mediums (e.g., website, social media, storylines, podcast inclusive of McLendon Day Celebration, Beyond the Horizon, Life in the League, HL Golden Hour Content Series, Nothing but Net). They will oversee administration of athletic and academic award programs and serve as staff liaison to designated League governance groups.
Additionally this position will lead key League events such as the HL Celebration event in conjunction with Basketball Content/Media Day. This position will pllan the programming and scripting for the League Spring Meeting Celebration.
In the area of Competition, this position will lead championship operations for assigned sports, including head coach peer group oversight.
