The Assistant Director of ExperiencePitt is a vital role responsible for leading student engagement through the University's primary involvement platform. This position ensures the effective promotion of campus activities, supervises Student Involvement Specialists, and drives cross-campus collaboration to support an inclusive student experience. This role directly supports the University's mission by fostering student success, community building, and access. It plays a key part in integrating co-curricular activities and providing data-driven insights to guide engagement strategy. Without this role, student engagement efforts would be significantly hindered, weakening student retention and satisfaction. The position is essential for maintaining operational continuity, leadership, and strategic development within Student Involvement.
The Office of Student Involvement at the University of Pittsburgh empowers students to find their place, purpose, and passion through meaningful engagement and leadership opportunities. The office serves as a central hub for student life, connecting students to over 700 student organizations, campus events, and leadership development programs.
Through initiatives such as ExperiencePitt (ExP), the office helps students explore interests, develop transferable skills, and build a sense of belonging within the Pitt community. The office oversees major student traditions, supports student government and advocacy efforts, and provides guidance for event planning, organization management, and campus involvement.
Job Summary
Manages a program and improves student programs, services, and retention. Performs budgetary and grant functions. Manages daily office operations and operations for select services. Markets programs and services, presents workshops, and develops policies and procedures. Facilitates new student programming.
Essential Functions
Assists in long-term planning and oversight of a major college, campus, or University-wide student affairs office to ultimately enrich students' lives. Collaborates in strategic planning and implementation of departmental plans and programs. Oversees day-to-day operations and staff. Maintains performance measures and ensures success:
Participates in the strategic planning for assigned areas and assists in developing and implementing the departmental strategic plan.
Develops plans and programs designed to enrich student lives through art, physical activity, volunteering, leadership, and/or experiential learning opportunities. Oversees implementation of the programs.
Establishes performance goals and measures to evaluate success of assigned area of responsibility.
Participates in formulating and implementing policies and procedures.
Supervises the day-to-day operations of assigned area and departmental employees. Provides guidance and direction to staff involved in department services and programs.
Ensures that all programs and activities comply with University, state, and federal regulations.
Physical Effort
Moderate physical effort required. May be required to stand/move for several hours at a time. May be required to move objects up to 50 pounds with or without assistance of equipment.

Work Arrangement: Hybrid: Combination of On-Campus and Remote work as determined by the department.
Hiring Range: $48,743 - $56,867
