The Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) is seeking a dynamic and visionary Catholic leader to serve as Camp Director at CYO Camp Rancho Framasa. Founded in 1946, CYO Camp serves as a premier destination for young people and their families, granting the amazing opportunity to experience God in the outdoors. Located in Nashville, IN, the camp operates a robust summer camping program as well as hosting school groups, families, organizational retreats, etc. through year-round programming. The Camp Director is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the camp, overseeing all administrative operations, and assisting with various camping programs across the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders to manage activities, develop programs, and improve existing operations.
Your leadership will inspire adventure and exploration among campers, cultivating a safe and meaningful environment. As a pivotal figure in our organization, you will contribute to a legacy of positive impact in the community.
Applicants should be professed and practicing Catholics with a deep commitment to serving students, families, and all attendees in a faith-based camping experience. Applicants should believe in the importance of the Catholic faith being used as a tool for fostering human dignity and building a better society through the holistic development of campers. This Camp Director position requires a bachelor’s degree in business management, leadership, or related field and at least five years of leadership experience, preferably in the camping industry.

Requirements
I. POSITION SPECIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
a. Skills, Knowledge, and/or Abilities
i. Display of Gospel values, good judgment, collaborative spirit, diplomacy, integrity, and the safeguarding of confidential information are required
ii. Commitment to and expertise in the formation of young people and the support of families involving professionals and volunteers in camp programming
iii. A demonstrated ability to assist the CYO Executive Director in ongoing advancement/development efforts to secure non-fee-based revenue for operations and capital improvements
iv. An ability to serve as the primary spokesperson for CYO Camp, promoting the philosophy, mission, history, and vision of the organization
v. Interpersonal skills that can result in strong, healthy relations with all those served through and involved in this ministry
vi. A record of successful executive-level strategic leadership within Catholic education and/or a public or private organization(s)
vii. A record of recruiting, hiring, and retaining a talented, hard-working staff
viii. A record of collaborative and ethical decision-making within a fast-paced environment
ix. A strong commitment to diversity, inclusion, and gender equity
b. Education, Training, and/or Experience
i. A bachelor’s degree in business administration, and/or a related field is required
ii. Applicant must have at least five years of experience in running/maintaining successful youth camping programs and/or experience in having supervisory responsibilities
iii. Completion of all Archdiocesan employment requirements including, but not limited to, background checks and Safe Parish (safe environment) training
II. WORKING ENVIRONMENT
a. Required to work some nights and weekends.
b. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
c. Required to manage high to moderate levels of stress.
d. The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
e. Constant positioning of self to interact with and provide instruction to students, bending, sitting, standing, reaching.
f. Required to perform repetitive physical tasks such as computer keyboarding, writing, and reading.
g. Required to monitor students in a variety of locations including those with noise, activity, and inclement weather.
h. Required to lift or carry classroom supplies, textbooks, furniture, and equipment to a maximum of 35 pounds.
i. The CYO/CYO Camp is a ministry of the Catholic Church. The Camp Director is expected to be a role model and is expressly charged with teaching the Word of God and leading their staff, youth, and families toward Christian maturity. As a role model for youth, his/her personal conduct, both at the organization and beyond, must convey and exemplify Catholic Church teachings. These teachings include, but are not limited to: honoring the dignity of each human life from conception to natural death, caring for God’s creation, and sharing the belief that all persons are called to respect human sexuality and its expression in the Sacrament of Marriage as a sign of God’s love and fidelity to His Church. j. The leader of CYO Camp is expected to be a practicing Catholic committed to forming others in the faith. The determination of whether the camp director is conducting him/herself in accordance with Catholic Church teachings is at the sole discretion of the Archbishop and/or his appointed delegates as an internal church decision.
