Position Title:
Open PGY-3 Categorical General Surgery Position (due to approved research leave for a current resident)
Program Overview
The Categorical General Surgery Residency Program at Henry Ford Hospital provides a comprehensive, ACGME-accredited surgical training experience rooted in excellence in clinical care, innovative research, and surgical education. Our residents gain exposure to a broad spectrum of operative and non-operative patient care in a high-volume, tertiary/quaternary care environment, with diverse pathology and multidisciplinary collaboration.

PGY Level: PGY-3
Start Date: July 1, 2026
Reason for Vacancy: Approved research leave for current resident
Residents in this position will:
- Participate in all aspects of clinical care across surgical services
- Provide pre-, intra-, and post-operative care of patients
- Participate in emergency surgery/trauma care
- Attend didactic sessions, conferences, and educational activities
- Rotate through specialty services including vascular, colorectal, ACS/ trauma, minimally invasive surgery, surgical oncology, plastic surgery, thoracic surgery and transplant
- Work collaboratively with faculty, residents, and interdisciplinary teams

Requirements
Qualifications/Requirements
Graduation from an accredited medical school (US MD/DO or equivalent)
Eligibility for Michigan medical licensure
Current ECFMG certification (if applicable)
Successful completion of prior residency PGY years appropriate to the level being offered
Strong clinical and interpersonal skills
Commitment to surgical education and patient care
