VCU Health is seeking a dedicated and experienced Clinical Pharmacy Specialist to join the pediatric acute care team at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU (CHoR). This role provides clinical pharmacy services to general acute care pediatric units, supporting children with a wide range of medical conditions in a collaborative care team focused on family-centered care. As part of CHoR’s nationally ranked pediatric hospital, the pharmacy specialist will work alongside a multidisciplinary team to optimize medication therapy, improve patient outcomes, and contribute to the academic and clinical mission of VCU Health.

Requirements

• Deliver direct clinical pharmacy services to pediatric patients in general acute care units.
• Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds and provide evidence-based pharmacotherapy recommendations.
• Monitor and adjust medication therapy for safety, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness.
• Educate patients, families, and health care providers on medication use and safety.
• Precept pharmacy residents and students.
• Develop and implement clinical protocols, guidelines, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Support CHoR’s commitment to family-centered care, engaging families in shared decision-making.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution.
• Strong clinical knowledge and experience in pediatric acute care or pediatric hospital medicine.
• Completion of a PGY1 or PGY2 residency in Pediatric Pharmacy or equivalent years of experience (preferred, not required).
• Board certification (BCPPS or equivalent) is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills.
