Ascension Illinois is looking for a full-time Family Medicine Physician for our Core Faculty as part of Ascension St. Joseph Family Medicine Residency in Chicago, IL.

We are a close knit team that is dedicated to teaching and adapting to the changing landscape of medicine and medical education based on resident and patient needs.
We are looking for a dynamic family doctor that is passionate about caring for and teaching the full breadth and depth of family medicine including all ages, all genders, inpatient medicine, outpatient medicine, procedures, and prenatal care precepting.
This position would be ideal for a physician with an interest in Obstetrics as we are expanding our obstetric opportunities for our residents and core faculty.
This position would be ideal for a physician with an interest in OMM as we are working on our program's formal Osteopathic Recognition
We would consider an applicant for the position of Associate Program Director if the applicant has at least 3 plus years of GME experience

Responsibilities:
Participate in curriculum development, faculty development, evaluations, milestones, teaching, etc.
Administer and maintain an educational environment conducive to educating residents in each of the ACGME competency areas.
Evaluate and treat patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills.
Recommends, participates in, and works to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.
Accepts patient referrals from other physicians.
Acts as admitting, attending and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses, depending on needs of patients, medical staff and hospital.
Participates in academic programs (Including medical education and scholarly activity)
Provides appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner.
Participates in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty, which includes on call schedules.
Devote the majority of their professional effort to teaching, administration, scholarly activity and patient care within the program.
Weekly Schedule Details:
Schedule is based on 40 hours per week: 12 hours private clinic per week.
8-12 hours resident precepting per week. 4 hours of faculty meetings per week.
8 hours of non-clinical residency administrative time for teaching, curriculum development, resident evaluation, precepting chart review and follow up and residency administration. There are
4 hours of non-clinical administrative time for patient follow up, documentation, responding to patient inquiries, from your private clinics.
One out of every 6 weeks when the designated inpatient faculty member is rounding in the hospital, the schedule is Monday - Friday - 5 morning sessions rounding on patients and supervising/teaching residents and 3 private clinic sessions, 1 admin session and 1 faculty meeting for that week.
Weekend hospital rounding is 1 out of 6 weekends the faculty member will round in the hospital Saturday and Sunday with the residents.
Additional Responsibilities:

Coordinate discharge planning with case management.

Requirements
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Credentials are verified by local staff credentialing office.
Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Education:
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
