Direct Report: Senior Manager, Grant Management & Revenue Operations

Position Summary:

The Director, Grant Management & Revenue Operations leads enterprise processes for philanthropic grants and earned-income agreements, from proposal development through implementation and closeout. Reporting to the COO, the Director builds and refines grant administration and financial workflows, including partnering with Finance to establish grant accounting processes in Blackbaud as Points of Light’s grant portfolio grows.

The Director partners with Development, Corporate Programs/Business Development, Finance, delivery leaders and Salesforce teams to clarify commitments, monitor performance and resolve risks. The role supervises the Senior Manager’s day-to-day grant and contract administration and leads ongoing staff training and process adoption. The ideal candidate combines analytical judgment, influence and people leadership with an adaptable approach to building and improving processes.

Position Functions and Responsibilities Include:

Grant Management and Financial Process Design

  • Lead the enterprise function, with distinct grant and earned-income workflows. Establish priorities, capacity, owners, handoffs, service levels and escalation paths; maintain visibility by initiative, line of business and revenue category.
  • Build on work underway to design, implement and refine restricted grant management processes, controls and supporting systems. Establish documentation, reporting and cross-department responsibilities with Finance and delivery leaders.
  • Partner with Finance to implement grant accounting workflows in Blackbaud, including grant setup, budgets, coding and allocation, restriction tracking, reconciliation and reporting. Translate Finance-approved requirements into practical system processes; Finance retains authority over accounting policies, controls, revenue recognition and official financial records.

Proposal Development and Pricing

  • Manage proposals from intake through approval and handoff: convene kickoffs, coordinate scope, staffing and cost inputs, confirm owners and deadlines, and resolve delays.
  • Maintain standard pricing models and proposal-budget templates with delivery-team input and Finance approval of methodology, assumptions and expected profitability. Ensure alignment with delivery requirements and funder restrictions.
  • Prepare deal decks and lead documented reviews for material or nonstandard opportunities. Secure scope, content and financial approvals; route nonstandard pricing, exceptions and material changes through authorized review.

Contract and Post-Award Administration

  • Manage fundraising and earned-income agreements through Finance-led enterprise contract review, coordinating business terms, approvals, execution and amendments. Retain executed agreements in Salesforce.
  • Oversee the Senior Manager’s kickoffs, consolidated plans, calendars and handoffs, confirming approved budgets, funding assignments, owners, deliverables, reporting requirements and payment triggers.
  • Ensure timely, complete time and milestone documentation for Finance’s invoicing, restricted-fund accounting and revenue recognition. Coordinate funder and client reports, with delivery owners responsible for accurate content and relationship managers reviewing and submitting communications.
  • Oversee operational records and administrative closeout after confirmation from accountable program and Finance owners.

Performance Monitoring and Financial Coordination

  • Consolidate the Senior Manager’s updates into monthly portfolio reports comparing progress with approved proposals, plans and budgets and Finance’s official results and forecast. Monitor proposed and actual contract profitability using Finance-validated assumptions and results.
  • Support Finance-led reconciliation and resolve operational and financial reporting gaps. Track corrective actions owned by accountable business, delivery or Finance leaders; escalate missed commitments, restrictions, material variances and unresolved risks to those leaders, COO and Senior Director, Enterprise Operations.

Team Leadership, Training and Continuous Improvement

  • Hire, onboard, coach and supervise the Senior Manager; establish goals, provide feedback and support development and accountability.
Deliver ongoing role-based training for Finance and enterprise staff on grant administration, financial workflows and systems. Maintain procedures and job aids, monitor adherence and coordinate corrective action with department leaders.
  • Adapt processes as grant requirements, systems and organizational needs evolve. Use feedback and performance data to simplify workflows while maintaining controls; define enhancements with Salesforce Administration and CRM enablement teams, which retain platform governance and technical ownership.
  • Lead or support time-bound cross-functional project teams (Tiger Teams), as assigned by the COO or Senior Director, Enterprise Operations, with a defined purpose, executive sponsor, scope, capacity plan and end date.

Core Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong project management, process design and analytical judgment, with attention to agreements, financial information and deadlines.
  • Adaptability and comfort with ambiguity: willing to test approaches, incorporate feedback and evolve processes while maintaining accountability.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation and influence; ability to teach colleagues with varying experience and drive adoption across teams.
  • Ability to prioritize competing needs, resolve issues and coach staff in a collaborative, respectful environment.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, integrity, discretion and Points of Light’s mission.

Culture and Values: Points of Light has a 35-year plus history that it seeks to honor, while looking toward the future as an innovative thought leader in the social sector. We have a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Our organization values innovation, dedication, teamwork and respectfulness. We enjoy thinking big, but also working hard to deliver our best work. Our team is solution-oriented, looking for someone who is always ready to deliver on ways to solve challenges, internally and with external partners.

What We Offer: Competitive compensation and excellent benefits including a robust PTO program: 18 days of PTO (increases to 20 days after three years of service) and 10 holidays; plus, we are closed December 25-January 1. Medical, dental and vision benefits offered, free life insurance, along with long-term and short-term disability, a 403(b) program with employer match, parental leave and one day of volunteer time off per month.

Key Requirements

  • Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in grant management, revenue operations, nonprofit operations or a related function.
