Description
The Director of Charter (Scheduling, Sales, and Dispatch) is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of flight scheduling, dispatch, and operations to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant air travel. This role also plays a key role in sales and business development, driving revenue growth through strategic client acquisition and relationship management. The director will manage a team of scheduling coordinators, sales representatives, and flight coordinators, ensuring seamless coordination between departments and maintaining the highest operational and customer service standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of aviation regulations, and a commitment to exceptional service while also demonstrating expertise in sales strategies and revenue generation.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership & Oversight
- Oversee flight scheduling and dispatch operations to optimize efficiency and ensure adherence to aviation regulations and safety protocols.
- Develop and implement operational strategies to enhance scheduling accuracy and dispatch effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with maintenance, flight crews, and other departments to ensure aircraft availability and readiness.
- Manage and monitor flight operations software to streamline scheduling and dispatch processes.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and mentor a team of scheduling coordinators, sales representatives, and flight coordinators, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Develop and execute training programs to enhance team proficiency in scheduling, dispatch, customer service, and sales.
- Establish and maintain clear communication channels to ensure seamless coordination within the department.
Customer & Client Relations
Act as the primary liaison for high-profile clients, providing exceptional service and flight coordination.- Address and resolve scheduling conflicts, last-minute changes, and operational challenges efficiently.
- Ensure a customer-focused approach in all scheduling, dispatch, and sales activities.
- Regulatory Compliance & Safety
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of FAA regulations, operational policies, and safety requirements.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure compliance with aviation standards.
- Work closely with the Safety and Compliance team to address any operational risks.
- Strategic Planning & Process Improvement
- Analyze operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement process enhancements to improve scheduling accuracy, efficiency, and sales conversion rates.
- Stay current with industry trends and technological advancements in flight operations, scheduling, and sales strategies.
Sales & Business Development
- Lead sales activities, including sales strategy development, pricing strategies, and customer engagement initiatives.
- Drive short- and long-term revenue growth by identifying new market opportunities and optimizing sales performance.
- Develop strategic sales plans and budgets to support business growth and profitability.
- Oversee business development initiatives to expand customer base and establish strategic partnerships.
- Manage sales operations and reporting, establishing key performance metrics and sales pipeline tracking.
- Lead pricing and contract negotiations to ensure competitive and profitable agreements.
- Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to identify growth opportunities and improve customer acquisition.
- Ensure the scheduling team works in alignment with sales efforts to accommodate client requests and enhance the customer experience.
- Monitor market trends and competitor offerings to enhance the company’s competitive positioning.

Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Business Administration, Sales, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in aviation scheduling, dispatch, operations management, or sales leadership.
- Strong knowledge of FAA regulations, flight operations, and dispatch procedures.
- Proven experience in sales and business development, preferably within the aviation industry.
- Experience managing and developing teams in a fast-paced aviation environment.
- Proficiency in flight scheduling software, dispatch systems, and CRM tools.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and crisis management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work with executives, clients, and operational teams.
Work Environment & Schedule:
- This role requires flexibility, including availability for after-hours and weekend support as needed.
- Middle TN Office (Murfreesboro)-based with occasional travel for operational oversight, client meetings, and sales engagements.
Technical Competencies:
- Aviation Operations Knowledge – Understanding of FAA regulations, flight operations, and dispatch procedures.
- Flight Scheduling & Dispatch Expertise – Ability to manage and optimize scheduling, crew assignments, and flight logistics.
- Regulatory Compliance – Knowledge of Part 91 and Part 135 operations, safety standards, and compliance requirements.
- Crisis & Risk Management – Ability to handle operational disruptions, emergencies, and unforeseen challenges.
- Technology & Software Proficiency – Expertise in flight scheduling, dispatch, aviation management systems, and CRM tools. Specifically Jet Insights, Tuvoli, and Foreflight.
Preferred Qualifications:
- FAA Dispatch License or Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) certification.
- Experience in corporate or private aviation scheduling and sales.
- Familiarity with Part 91 and Part 135 operations.
