City of Iron Mountain, pop. 7,518, a diverse, full-service community and gateway to the Upper Peninsula seeks an innovative, creative and motivated professional to manage and lead the Department of Public Works. The Department has fourteen members with a budget of $5.8 million. Operations include water generation and distribution, wastewater collection, storm sewers, motor pool/equipment operations, planning, streets, cemetery, etc. Minimum employment qualifications include bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration or closely related field, or 5 years progressively responsible experience in Public Works Administration. SUMMARY: At the direction of the City Manager provides the planning and supervision of the range of services provided by the Department of Public Works.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
1. Plans and supervises the daily work activity for the Department of Public Works.
2. Prepares and monitors annual budget for all Public Works Departments.
3. Plans and supervises construction projects in all Public Works Departments.
4. Schedules annual equipment replacement requirements.
5. Submits written report on a monthly basis to the City Manager describing the activities for all public works departments.
6. Enforce all policy regarding the operation of all Public Works Departments.
7. Preform other duties as required.
