Description

The director of the Towson University counseling center serves as the university's strategic leader and subject matter expert on student mental health. Reporting to the assistant vice president for student health and wellbeing (SHAW), the director advances Towson University's commitment to holistic student success through clinical excellence, campus-wide collaboration, and innovative leadership. The director provides strategic and operational leadership for the planning, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of counseling center services to ensure alignment with institutional goals and the mission, vision, and values of both SHAW and Towson University. This role oversees clinical staff and operations, maintains an exemplary training program, and ensures the delivery of accessible, high-quality, and culturally responsive psychological services for TU's diverse student community.
Salary Range: $145,000 to $150,000
Qualifications
- Doctorate (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in counseling psychology, clinical psychology, or a closely related field.
- Full licensure as a psychologist in Maryland, or able to become licensed in Maryland.
- Progressively responsible clinical counseling experience, including supervisory or administrative roles within a counseling or mental health setting.
- Demonstrated experience in crisis intervention, risk assessment, and evidence-based counseling practices.
- Strong organizational, fiscal, and operational management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, including the ability to collaborate across diverse campus constituencies.
- Commitment to inclusive and culturally responsive clinical and organizational practices
