Description
The Educational Resources Coordinator's home unit is the Division of Infectious Diseases, but this position supports medical student education across the Indiana University (IU) School of Medicine (IUSM). Course Coordinators typically manage 3 courses. This position manages Foundations of Clinical Practice, Transitions 1, and Health Systems Science 1.Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Coordinate the space, time, and resources necessary for the successful implementation of assigned courses in the IUSM curriculum.
- Collaborate with statewide course management teams, including course directors and site leaders, to support course planning and delivery.
- Prepare reports and documentation for oversight bodies, including curriculum summaries, contact hour reconciliations, and teaching effort reports.
- Coordinate course activities and delegate tasks to regional campus staff as directed by the Statewide Course Director.
- Work closely with regional campus coordinators to address curricular, scheduling, and resource needs.
- Support the Indianapolis site leader or course director in faculty support and evaluation.
- Create and maintain course sites in the learning management system (Canvas) and manage instructional technologies related to course activities.
- Compile and analyze student assessment data to support grade determination and subgroup analysis.
- Ensure timely grade submission in compliance with the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) standards.
- Identify students who are not meeting course requirements and help facilitate their entry into the appropriate remediation process by coordinating with course leadership and support teams.
- Support faculty with test item management and analysis in ExamSoft.
- Coordinate and track course assessments, including ExamSoft and National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) exams, and supervise exam administration on the Indianapolis campus.
- Maintain course calendars and coordinate course-related meetings, including Information Technology (IT) arrangements.
- Manage course documentation and course materials.
- Provide backup support for other course coordinators as needed.
- Participate in professional development to stay current with medical education trends and best practices and instructional and assessment technologies such as Canvas, ExamSoft, Kaltura, Qualtrics, and MedHu.
- Provide administrative support for student testing services, instructional consulting, placement of student teachers and/or teaching assistants, classroom materials, course administration, and/or a variety of other educational support services.
- Train and serve as an informational resource for student teachers in terms of pedagogical practice, classroom management, and federal regulations like the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and Title IX.
- Provide information to key stakeholders including students, faculty, and staff; document procedures and participate in the development of relevant procedures.
- Maintain relationships between department and other academic units. Maintain and update contact lists as appropriate.
- Act as a liaison for faculty, staff, and students, responding to and resolving educational resources issues as needed.
- May work with representatives of student groups to encourage participation in services offered.
- May provide training or guidance to student or temporary staff and perform occasional duties in support of other functions or business needs.

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Advertised Salary
$42,000 - $47,000 annually, based on experience and internal equity.
