Description
Former Congressman Tom Perriello seeks a Finance Director in his race to bring principled leadership back to VA-05 and secure a Democratic majority in the US House. Finance Director is a full-time role that requires substantial in-person work at the campaign’s headquarters in the Charlottesville, VA metro region.
Core Duties
The Finance Director will work closely with the campaign manager and candidate to:
- develop and maintain a campaign budget and fundraising plan with measurable goals
- track and report progress toward goals and adapt strategy as needed
- develop and steward a network of individual and institutional donors to fundraise on behalf of the campaign
- identify new donor prospects
- direct candidate call-time
- plan virtual and in-person fundraising events in Virginia and across the country
- oversee digital fundraising
- ensure accurate donor records, bookkeeping, and financial reporting
- build a team of finance staff, vendors, and consultants to assist with all the above
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of professional fundraising experience with a principal or organization that has a strong national fundraising network. We welcome applicants with fundraising experience from both political campaigns and the non-profit sector.
- agility and discipline in strategic planning
- strong copywriting and professional correspondence skills
- sound data management and analysis skills
- fluency with some of our core finance tech tools (ActBlue, NGP, etc.) and eagerness to learn more
- an eagle eye for detail and a passion for efficient workflows
- professional integrity, discretion, manners, and grace – fundraising is all about trust, reputation, and relationships
Desired Qualifications
- 1 or more cycles as a Finance Director on a race with a budget of $1M+
- experience working in Virginia politics and/or swing districts
- Everything campaigns do requires some lightweight graphic design. In finance that includes invitations, event promotion, etc. We have paid communications staff for the major projects. The more you can handle some occasional lightweight design work, the more you can manage smaller projects start to finish.
Location and Schedule
Start date is flexible. We aim to have a new hire engaging at least part-time remotely in January and in-district, full-time by February 2025.
Compensation
Minimum salary of $6,500 per month. Additional compensation commensurate with skills and experience.
This position will be eligible for a $300 monthly reimbursement for health insurance expenses, if desired.
