Description
A. T. Still University's Kirksville School of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) is seeking a full-time, exempt KCOM Director of Family Medicine. This position reports to the KCOM Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education. The KCOM Director of Family Medicine leads and directs the family medicine residency program. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance to ACGME and Still OPTI accreditation standards. Further responsibilities are the supervision, direction, evaluation, and administration to the Family Medicine Education Program.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance to policies and procedures of the ATSU clinics, ACGME, and Still OPTI programs.
- Assure adherence and develop the required curriculum to meet and exceed family medicine program standards and achieve the mission and aims of the program.
- Collaborate with clinic administration and staff to achieve standardized clinical quality indicators.
- Provide supervision, evaluation, mentorship and create learning plans for residents.
- Direct faculty and residents' assignments, outcomes, scholarship and professional development.
- Provide direction, leadership, and work cooperatively with clinic administration.
- Assist with undergraduate teaching program, as needed {lectures, labs}
- Oversee student clinical education of years 3 and 4 for students assigned to GCA family medicine rotations.
- Direct and assess effectiveness of educational activities; lead improvement as needed.
- Recruit and retain high caliber residents who exhibit interest and commitment to excellence in patient care and medical. education, demonstrated competency in clinical research, high ethics, and a commitment to a high order of professionalism
- Assure timely completion of program, faculty and resident assessments and evaluations.
- Responsible for overseeing resident patient care services.
- Responsible for overseeing resident clinical and practice management skill development in coordination with faculty and clinic administration.
- Serve on committees with NRMC and KCOM, as requested.
- Supervise resident scholarly activity and quality improvement.
- Participate in department activities {KFM}, as needed.
- Conduct ongoing review of the residency program as required by ACGME.
- Participate with DIO and assistant DIO making recommendations for improvement in the education program.
- Oversee and evaluate core family medicine faculty.
Education & Experience
- DO degree required.
- Three to five years experience in medical education.
- Possess leadership, clinical experience and expertise, mentorship capabilities.
- Knowledge of ACGME standard requirements.
- Ability to use EMR system.
- Knowledge of practice management and coding.
Personal Characteristics or Traits
- Must be able to both lead and serve as an effective team member in graduate medical education and family medicine clinical care.
- Excellent listening skills, problem solving and overall communication skills both verbally and in a written form are essential.
- A commitment and demonstration of personal and professional growth is key.
