Licensed Counselor Responsibilities:
Assesses treatment plans for clients with mental health history using the ASI (Addiction Severity Index) and the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders).
Determines the appropriate level of care according to ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine) Client Placement Criteria.
Obtains previous care records that are relevant to the current treatment episode.
Collaborates with clients to develop a recovery treatment plan.
Provides substance abuse and mental health counseling services specified in the client treatment plan.
Observes clients throughout treatment to determine the need for continued services, transfer, or discharge.
Develops discharge/transfer plan to ensure access to appropriate levels of care.
Contacts, consults and coordinates with referral sources as appropriate.
Participates with a multidisciplinary team for assigned clients.
Provides active case consultation.
Documents all counseling and education services, assessments, reassessments, referrals and follow- up in the client's clinical record, and providing appropriate signatures and dating of such entries, including those made in electronic records.
Ensures proper collection and documentation of urine samples.
Attends, participates, and when necessary, case consultations, facilitate special events, such as seminars, lectures, retreats, trips, workshops, etc.
Must provide good role modeling behavior for clients.
Facilitates Morning/Care & Concern Meetings with clients.
Ensures proper and appropriate documentation of all clinical sessions, lectures, seminars and interventions.
Responsible for full client case load and documentation of accountability procedures that require verification of interventions.
Attends all staff meetings and attend functions and/or meetings when the Clinical Supervisor is not available.
Moderates special groups such as extended groups, family meetings, workshops, or presentations.
Performs other responsibilities and duties as required.

Requirements
Licensed Counselor Education/Experience:
Master’s is highly preferred with a degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, or similar field. Bachelor's Degree is required. Must be currently licensed as any of the following:
Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or
Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC)
Must have a minimum of two (2) years working as a counselor, preferably in a drug treatment facility.
Knowledge of the basic principles, philosophies, practices, and procedures involved at drug treatment facilities.
Knowledge of the bio psycho social characteristics and manifestations of drug addiction.
Knowledge of individual and group behavior and the effective ways of working with people to encourage on-going recovery.
Ability to work effectively with people, and aid them in identifying their specific needs.
Must be able to develop a therapeutic relationship with clients while maintaining therapeutic boundaries.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, other members of staff, outside agencies, institutions, and the general public.
Ability to successfully work with others from various cultures and backgrounds.
Familiar with a facility environment, primary functions performed, and an understanding of a client’s levels of care.
Experience with facilitating groups, seminars, meetings and/or specialized therapeutic groups and activities.
