We invite you to become a pivotal part of our team as the Major Gifts Officer for University Development. In this role, you will serve as an integral part within the Individual Giving School and Centers department reporting to the Senior Director, Major Gifts.The Major Gift Officer, Central Major Gifts plans and implements major gift fundraising efforts for assigned area of responsibility; develops proposals and coordinates fundraising efforts within the department; and identifies, cultivates, stewards, and solicits current and potential donors. Collaborates with leadership, school-based and unit development directors, and faculty on fundraising strategies and solicitations. Crafts major donor recognition collateral and provides overall donor stewardship.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Cultivate and solicit major gifts from donors with the capacity to give $100,000 or more.
Build and maintain a diverse, sustainable portfolio of major gift prospects in an assigned geographic region.
Initiate and manage substantive discussions with potential donors to assess capacity and interest.
Collaborate and build relationships across university units including PAE, academic departments, Athletics, and others to aid in cultivating donors and soliciting major gifts.
Design and execute multi-dimensional cultivation strategies tailored to individual donors.
Develop and finalize gift agreements, including endowments and pledges.
Implement stewardship strategies to ensure ongoing donor engagement and satisfaction.
Maintain accurate donor records in the PAE database system.
Willingness to travel at least 30% of the time to meet with donors and prospects.
Build long-term relationships based on donors' interests, passions, and values.
Demonstrate a proven track record of successful individual gift solicitation and relationship / project management.

Job Summary
Plans, implements, and manages fundraising programs for assigned area of responsibility; develops proposals and coordinates fundraising efforts within the department; and identifies, cultivates, stewards, and solicits current and potential donors. Collaborates with executive leadership, leadership, and faculty on strategic initiatives and campaign management. Crafts major donor recognition collateral and recruits and leads volunteer solicitors.
Essential Functions
- Plan, implement, and manage major gift fundraising efforts for the assigned area of responsibility.
- Develop proposals and coordinate major gift fundraising efforts within a geographic region.
- Closely collaborate with schools and units across PAE and the University to cultivate donors and solicit major gifts.
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward current and potential major gift donors.
Physical Effort
Light - Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Additional details about Required Licensure/Certification: Valid driver's license Demonstrate a proven track record of successful individual gift solicitation and relationship / project management. Strong communication skills and ability to build trusted relationships with donors and effective, collaborative relationships with colleagues and internal partners. Travel is required at least 30% of the time to meet with donors and prospects. This translates to at least once a month.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Work Arrangement: Hybrid: Combination of On-Campus and Remote work as determined by the department.
Hiring Range: $75,000-$87,000 annually
