The University of North Alabama’s Spencer College of Education & Human Sciences is accepting applications for the position of Non-Tenure-Track, Lecturer; Elementary and/or Early Childhood Education within the department of Teaching, Learning, & Leadership. This position offers the potential opportunity for travel and to teach abroad. The standard teaching load for this position is 15 credit hours per semester. Salary will be commensurate with degree, rank, and experience. The Educator Preparation Program is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation and approved by the Alabama State Department of Education. Appointment will be effective Fall 2026. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position has been filled.
Essential job duties include the ability to teach undergraduate classes in Elementary Education and/or Early Childhood Education; the ability to advise students; and the ability to work with students as well as P-6 schools and administrators. Additional duties shall include clinical supervision of students, advisement, engaging in scholarly activities and professional service, as well as service to the department, college, and the University.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach program-related coursework in in Elementary Education and/or Early Childhood Education; work with students as well as P-6 schools and administrators; develop in Elementary Education and/or Early Childhood Education; advise and mentor students; participate in scholarly activities; be active and involved in service to the university, college, department, program, and profession in leadership roles; and support the department's current accreditation processes. We expect that selected candidates will be able to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff in written form, verbally, and inter-personally; will be able to work effectively with a varied population of students, faculty, and staff; will exhibit excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; and will have a desire to teach and/or learn to teach a varied and evolving curriculum.

Requirements
Minimum qualifications include an earned master’s degree in in Elementary Education or a closely-related field from an accredited institution is required and a doctorate or EdS is preferred; a closely-related field in education (i.e. Early Childhood Education, Curriculum and Instruction) will be considered if the applicant possesses a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Elementary Education; eligibility to possess teaching credentials in in Elementary Education/Early Childhood Education is required; Minimum of three years of recent, successful P-6 experience is required; experience in and/or the ability to deliver online instruction is required; teaching experience at the college/university level is preferred; interest in or experience directing student research is preferred; and experience in supervision of interns in the P-12 setting is preferred.
