Redwood Schools is seeking an Occupational Therapist contractor to join our Redwood Roots team. At Redwood Roots, we partner with private schools to offer tailored educational support services, from learning remediation and executive functioning coaching to expert consultancy and advocacy. We’re dedicated to providing students with the personalized tools they need to succeed throughout their academic journey.
The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, collaborative, and strong communicator who also possesses a strong desire to learn, grow, and develop themselves professionally.
Requirements
Responsibilities:
- 8-12 hours of services weekly. This includes direct services to students, consultation with teachers, ongoing feedback and professional development to staff, assessment, and IEP goal creation and progress monitoring, in collaboration with the team.
- Accurately document daily progress by maintaining detailed progress notes and recording relevant data points to ensure comprehensive tracking of student outcomes.
- Take responsibility for onboarding and training tasks necessary to fulfill your duties effectively. This includes mastering the administration of assessments, scheduling appointments, completing documentation, making service recommendations, and creating individualized goals.
- Assess student's fine motor and sensory needs
- Complete evaluation reports based on student performance, including recommendations for services
- Plan and implement 1:1 or small group intervention according to assessed needs (social thinking, zones of regulation, handwriting, executive functioning, etc.) across the full calendar year
- Create individualized goals and lessons to target individual needs
- Collaborate with lead teachers and parents regarding implementation of strategies
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, administrators, and other professionals to integrate goals into the classroom and at home.
- Schedule students in TheraNest ensuring accuracy and alignment with individual needs and availability.
- Document daily progress promptly, including detailed session notes that reflect goals, activities, and outcomes, maintaining up-to-date records for assessment, stakeholder communication, and compliance with organizational standards.
- Use formative data to direct instruction
- Attend 1 monthly team meeting
- Attend 1 monthly domain-specific meeting
Skills & Competencies:
- Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution
- School-based occupational therapy expertise preferred
- Ability to collaborate professionally and effectively with Redwood Staff, partner schools, and parents/guardians
- Group management skills across grade levels
- Ability to manage time appropriately
- Strong oral and written expression skills
