About Strength & Performance Training (SAPT):
Established in 2007, SAPT is an industry-leading performance training facility serving youth, collegiate, and professional athletes, as well as motivated adults. We specialize in intelligent, individualized, evidence-based coaching rooted in movement quality, long-term athletic development, and high performance.
Our founder, Sarah Walls, brings 20+ years of coaching experience, including serving as the Head Performance Coach for the Washington Mystics (WNBA) and working for multiple years with the Washington Wizards (NBA). At SAPT, coaches grow through mentorship that blends elite-level sports science, coaching craft, and professional development.
We are expanding our team as we grow into our new 8,000 sq ft facility — and we’re searching for the right leader to guide our coaching staff and elevate our athletes even further.
Position Summary:
The Performance Director is the coaching and programming leader of SAPT. This role oversees training quality, coaches’ development, and the execution of all athlete performance systems.
This person should be:
- An exceptional coach
- A strong communicator
- Professionally mature
- Passionate about both athlete results and coach mentorship
- Ready to take ownership of programming standards and systems
You will directly influence the next decade of SAPT’s evolution.
Key Responsibilities:
Coaching & Programming (50%)
- Program design, progression planning, and performance tracking across youth, adult, and athlete populations
- Hands-on coaching for 1:1 and small-group performance sessions
- Athlete testing and evaluation using force plates, performance tech, and SAPT assessment systems
- Maintain movement quality and technical standards across all sessions
Leadership & Operations (30%)
- Lead, mentor, and develop a staff of part-time and assistant coaches
- Run coach onboarding and continuing education
- Ensure all programs meet SAPT’s performance and safety standards
- Assist with scheduling, workflow, and facility operations
Innovation & Growth (20%)
- Improve and refine SAPT’s athlete development models
- Collaborate with stakeholders and coaches on program evolution
- Support events, workshops, and team partnerships
- Help expand performance services and system infrastructure as SAPT grows

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years experience coaching athletes in a performance or collegiate setting
- CSCS
- Proven experience writing programs and coaching athletes of varying skill levels
- High-level communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work evenings and weekends, as needed
- Commitment to continuing education and professional growth
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in youth athletic development
- Familiarity with performance technology (VALD, force plates, Kinexon, etc.)
- Experience mentoring or supervising other coaches
- Background in team sport performance settings
