Grades Pre K-12 | 1. 0 FTE (Continuing) | Speech Language Pathologist
Reports to: Special Education Director
Major Responsibilities:
1. Implement district and building philosophies and goals.
2. Maintain and promote own personal professional growth through appropriate class work, workshops, reading of professional materials, etc.
3. Meet with parents and special services staff on a regular basis.
4. Work as a team member with special services staff, basic education staff, and community in implementation of this program.
5. Be responsible for constructive classroom management and environment.
6. Consult on a regular basis with staff members concerning education and interventions.
7. Assist in coordination of services and support staff.
8. Must be flexible in working with students assigned to your caseload. Students may have a broad range of abilities and disabilities.
9. Be able to assist (physically and verbally) and move with child to various sites e.g., outside for recess/bus/gym for PE, stage for music, library and bathroom assisting with diapers and toilet training.
10. May require working with medically fragile student(s) under the direction from the school nurse.
11. Helping with physical needs of students.
12. Complete referral, evaluation and re-evaluations on students assigned and all special education paperwork required by District and IDEA.
13. Assist with lift and mobility, when necessary, using techniques developed by the physical therapist.
14. Conducting assessments, analyzing results, and writing reports to determine strengths and concerns in areas of articulation, voice, fluency, pragmatics, language, hearing impairment, and oral motor/feeding skills.
15. Providing direct speech-language therapy services to students’ age birth to 21 according to IFSP/ IEP/504 plans.
16. Ensuring evaluations, treatment plans, and service delivery are aligned with school, state, and federal guidelines.
17. Assisting and guiding teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language delays/disorders.
18. Billing monthly for students who are Medicaid eligible
19. Managing a detailed log of service provided and services missed due to student or therapist absences.
20. Perform other related duties as required.
Terms of Employment:
This is a 1.0 FTE continuing contract beginning with the 2026-2027 school year. Salary is based upon placement on the state salary schedule. All hiring and seniority rights are contingent upon School Board approval.

Requirements
Qualifications:
1. Must favorably pass the Washington State Patrol/FBI background check.
2. Preference given to demonstrated ability to relate well with at-risk students and students with high needs.
3. Preference given to candidates with experience working with students with high needs and behavior problems.
4. Preference given to those applicants with IEP On-Line experience.
5. Have a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited school of speech-language pathology.
6. Hold a current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence.
7. Have a current WA Dept. of Health license and NPI number
8. Hold a WA State Educational Staff Associate Certificate
9. Be familiar with use of PECs, AAC, and ABA strategies
10. Have experience with IEP online or be willing to receive training
11. Have excellent time management skills, flexibility, and ability to work independently and to problem-solve.
12. Adhere to a high level of professional and ethical standards.
