Department Statement
The Biomedical Laboratory Diagnostics (BLD) Program was established in1926 and is within the College of Natural Science. MSU BLD offers two undergraduate degrees, Biomedical Laboratory Science and Medical Laboratory Science (a NACCLS accredited program) and three graduate degrees – an MA in Biomedical Laboratory Science, an MS in Clinical Laboratory Science, and an MS in Biomedical Laboratory Operations. Primary disciplines we teach include hematology and hemostasis, molecular diagnostics, scientific writing, laboratory management, pathology, clinical chemistry, immunology, immunohematology, and medical microbiology.

The Biomedical Laboratory Diagnostics Program prepares individuals for careers in healthcare, providing a strong foundation in the basic sciences of chemistry, biology, mathematics, and physics. These programs prepare students for career routes in roles such as:
