Salary: MP Year 1–9 | $412,161 – $523,436 p.a.
Location: East Perth (may require travel across the WA Health system
Lead. Influence. Transform Mental Health Care Across Western Australia.
WA Country Health Service is seeking an experienced psychiatrist to step into a senior clinical leadership role shaping mental health services across rural and remote WA.
As Area Director – Clinical Psychiatry, you will provide executive-level clinical leadership across a vast and complex system, driving service redesign, strengthening clinical governance, and improving outcomes for some of Australia’s most geographically diverse communities.
You will work closely with executive leadership and clinical directors to:
- Lead clinical governance and service delivery across regional mental health services
- Drive system-wide innovation and service redesign
- Support integrated care models including telepsychiatry and emergency mental health services
- Strengthen and develop the rural psychiatry workforce
- Influence statewide mental health strategy and reform

What You’ll Bring
You are a senior psychiatrist with strong clinical credibility, leadership experience, and a commitment to improving mental health outcomes in rural and remote communities.
- Eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP)
- Proven clinical leadership and management experience in psychiatry
- Strong understanding of the WA Mental Health Act 2014
- A passion for equity, innovation, and improving mental health outcomes
