Artistic Director — Assabet Valley Mastersingers

MetroWest/Central Massachusetts | Part-time, Contractor

The Assabet Valley Mastersingers (A VM), a respected community chorus with a 49-year

tradition of choral-orchestral performance in suburban Massachusetts, seeks an Artistic

Director to lead the organization into its next chapter.

The Role The AD provides full artistic leadership of A VM’s chorus, soloists, and orchestra —

selecting repertoire, leading rehearsals and concerts, shaping the season, and serving as the

public artistic voice of the organization. The AD works in close collaboration with the General

Manager and reports to the Executive Board.

We are Looking For

Proven choral conductor with experience in large-scale choral-orchestral repertoire

Strong rehearsal technique and the ability to inspire a committed volunteer ensemble

An artistic vision that honors A VM’s legacy while embracing new possibilities

Collaborative instincts and comfort working within a nonprofit governance structure

Reliable accessibility to the MetroWest/Greater Boston area

Able to take over in the Summer of 2027

Advanced degree in choral conducting or music education preferred.

Compensation Commensurate with experience and achievement.

Requirements

Candidates should demonstrate a strong background in choral conducting, with particular

experience in large-scale choral-orchestral works; the ability to lead and inspire a volunteer

ensemble; and the collaborative and communication skills suited to a nonprofit arts organization.

An advanced degree in choral music or music education is preferred. Candidates must be reliably

accessible to the MetroWest/Central Mass suburban area and able to take over in the Summer of 2027.
