- Assistant Camp Director
Description
Camp W is seeking an experienced, energetic, and highly organized Assistant Camp Director to join our leadership team. The Assistant Director will work closely with the Camp Director and administrative team to ensure the successful operation of camp, provide support to staff, communicate with families, and help create an exceptional summer experience for campers.
This is a full-time summer leadership position with opportunities for involvement in planning, staffing, and administrative meetings throughout the year.
Requirements
Responsibilities
Assist in the daily operation and management of camp
Supervise and support counselors, specialists, and other staff
Build positive relationships with campers, staff, and parents
Handle parent concerns and communicate professionally with families
Assist with staff hiring, training, and evaluations
Monitor camper safety, behavior, and well-being
Coordinate schedules, activities, transportation, and special events
Conduct regular walkthroughs and provide staff coaching and support
Assist with crisis management and problem resolution
Attend pre-season planning meetings and staff training sessions
Serve as a positive role model and leader within the camp community
Qualifications
Previous camp leadership, education, youth development, or administrative experience
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
Exceptional organizational and time-management skills
Ability to supervise and motivate staff
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency with email, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and basic technology
Bachelor's degree preferred but not required
Teaching, school administration, camp leadership, or youth program management experience strongly preferred
