Description
The Cheney Recreation Commission is accepting applications for the full-time position of Assistant Director of Recreation. The position reports directly to the Director of Recreation in planning, organizing, coordinating, supervising, and implementing recreation programs. The primary responsibility of the Cheney Recreation Commission is to improve the quality of life in Cheney and citizens of USD 268 by providing recreational programs for all ages and maintenance of facilities under our care.

Responsibilities
Plans, implements, supervises, coordinates and directs youth and adult sports and events, recreation programs and special events; develops program services and activities; schedules classes, events and programs; reserves facilities and schedules grounds use; performs maintenance for programs and facilities; oversees, recruits, coordinates and directs instructors, staff, and volunteers; provides information and direction as needed; instructs classes; sets up for special events; processes participant registrations; develops and implements policies and procedures for programs; manages programs; and other duties as assigned by the organization in accordance with local, state and federal guidelines.
Minimum requirements:
Preference given to individuals with a bachelor’s degree in parks, recreation, sports management, physical education, or closely related field. All individuals are encouraged to apply regardless of education and experience.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must pass a background check and drug screening.
Have the ability to obtain certifications in First Aid, CPR, & AED.
Skills:
Written and Oral communication.
Ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds.
Able to handle stressful situations and work with people with a wide range of personalities.
Ability to work nights and weekends and in different weather conditions, hours may vary.
Computer knowledge, MS Office-Word & Excel.
Be able to work independently.
