Job Title: Associate Director of Student Services
Classification/Contract Days: Administrator/261 Days
FLSA Status: Exempt
Relationships: Direct Supervisor - Executive Director of Student Services, Works with - Administrators, All Staff and Parents Supervises - EMLSS Coaches, School Psychologists
Essential Function:
The Associate Director of Student Services partners with District leadership to develop and implement the Equitable Multi-Level System of Supports (EMSS) framework across all schools. This role provides strategic guidance to integrate academic, social-emotional, and behavioral systems across tiers 1, 2, and 3 to improve outcomes for all students. Additionally, the Associate Director ensures strict compliance with all relevant laws, policies, and regulations.
Responsibilities, Tasks & Duties:
Provides leadership to ensure continuous development and improvement
Keeps abreast of community services and resources; develops partnerships with parents, businesses/organizations, and other agencies to build awareness, develop support, and share resources
Supervise, evaluate, and plan professional development and department meetings for designated staff, including assigned support staff and program leaders.
CSIP partner to assigned schools, providing strategic alignment and support for Continuous School Improvement Plans.
Coordinate ESY summer school evaluations for school services personnel to complete special education evaluations, ensuring compliance and timely service delivery.
Provide support in the student services areas related to PBIS, TSS, and Responsive Practices to enhance student engagement and school climate.
Coordinator/Training (restorative practices, trauma responsive school, and EMLSS), leading district-wide initiatives for equitable student outcomes.
Abeyance Agreement support, facilitating the process and documentation for student behavioral interventions.
Provide district coordination of key roles in the EMLSS system and facilitate the implementation of instructional responses to behaviors.
Collaborates in the leadership of school counselors, school psychologists, social workers, school nurses, deans, youth advocates, and alternative education staff.
Collaborates with district leadership to ensure professional learning, resources, and compliance in matters relating to student discipline, alternative education, child welfare and attendance, school counseling services, and school safety
Guides, directs, and participates in discipline processes, including student suspensions, and expulsions
Collaborates with district leadership on the planning, development, and implementation of Student Services programs
Monitors and coaches building administrators on the ongoing review, evaluation and development of rules, guidelines, procedures and practices as required by law and consistent with the policies of the Board of Education
Assists in determining the staffing needs of programs relating to assigned areas
Participates in the recruiting, screening, and interview process for Student Services vacancies
Identifies summer evaluation student service team, monitors summer evaluations
Provides for long range planning and timelines for implementation of those plans in assigned areas.
Prepares reports for the Board of Education, district administration, or other information, as requested
Support district crisis response team (CRT)
Analyze behavioral, and social-emotional data to evaluate program effectiveness
Plan and deliver professional learning for staff on topics such as trauma-informed practices, behavior intervention, behavior calibrations with deans and administrators, and compliance
Collaborate and validate data for the Office of Civil Rights report related to behavioral data
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Director of Special Education/ Pupil Services (80) license
Administrative experience preferred
In depth knowledge of Student Services
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated knowledge of all aspects of Student Services and programming
Demonstrated ability to work closely and collaborate with a multitude of school stakeholders
Ability to foster positive relationships, school-community partnerships and manage personnel
Knowledge of current trends in standards for professional learning
Knowledge of current trends and research in Student Services
Demonstrated knowledge of Culturally and Linguistically Responsive (CLR) practices ASD
Ability to collaborate with families and community members of diverse cultural and educational backgrounds
Working Environment:
Frequent contact with the public
Must be able to report to work in-person and onsite and travel within and outside the District
Work involves frequent disruptions and deadlines under pressure
Work involves emotionally charged situations
Work requires flexibility in adjusting to continuously changing situations and daily schedule
Work requires frequent use of computer programs and data analysis
Work involves planning and collaboration with others on targeted organizational changes
Mobility to be responsive to student and staff situations throughout building/campus
Physical and Sensory Requirements:
The position requires the administrator to:
Sit, walk, climb stairs, and drive throughout the day
Use general hearing, speaking, and visual skills
Use of cognitive reasoning to interpret reports, compare, edit, organize and evaluate
Hearing, speaking, mobility and visual skills sufficient to successfully perform duties
