Description
Chapel Hill Area Volleyball Club (CHAVC) is seeking an experienced and passionate ClubDirector to lead one of the region’s most respected youth volleyball programs.
The Club Director is responsible for the overall leadership, operations, and growth of the club, club’s mission of developing athletes both on and off the court.
CHAVC is entering an exciting new phase of growth. The Club has secured funding for a dedicated volleyball facility, and is currently in negotiations to acquire a site, aiming for a potential move-in perhaps as soon as this fall. This milestone will open doors to expand programming, add more travel teams, and enhance both the competitive environment and athlete development across the club.
The Club Director will play a key leadership role in shaping this next chapter, helping grow both the quantity and quality of travel teams while also expanding clinics, camps, and other volleyball programming that promotes the sport and strengthens the volleyball community in the Triangle.
The ideal candidate brings a strong volleyball pedigree, proven leadership ability, and the operational discipline required to manage and grow a competitive club program.
Key Responsibilities
Club Leadership & Strategy
- Provide overall leadership and vision for the club’s competitive and developmental volleyball programs.
- Work closely with the CHAVC Board of Directors to support strategic priorities and the club’s continued growth.
- Help guide the club through its transition into a dedicated volleyball facility, including expansion of programming and teams.
- Foster a positive, athlete-centered culture emphasizing skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth.
Volleyball Program Oversight
- Oversee all competitive and developmental teams within the club.
- Recruit, hire, develop, and supervise coaching staff.
- Establish consistent coaching standards and training philosophy across teams.
- Lead or oversee tryouts, team formation, and roster decisions.
- Ensure teams are appropriately placed in tournaments and competitive events.
Coach Leadership & Development
- Provide mentorship and leadership to coaching staff throughout the season.
- Organize coaches’ meetings, training opportunities, and development initiatives.
- Ensure alignment with club standards, athlete development priorities, and safe sport practices.
Club Operations
- Oversee day-to-day club operations including scheduling, communications, and logistics.
- Coordinate tournament registrations, team travel guidance, and seasonal planning.
- Manage club systems, registrations, and operational processes.
- Work with the Board and administrative support to manage budgets, expenses, and program planning.
Program Growth & Community Engagement
- Lead the expansion of the club’s travel team program, increasing both the number of teams and the competitive level of play.
- Develop and grow clinics, camps, training programs, and other volleyball programming that promote the sport in the community.
- Build relationships with local schools, volleyball organizations, and the broader volleyball community.
- Represent CHAVC positively within the regional volleyball landscape.
Athlete & Family Experience
- Serve as a visible and accessible leader for athletes and families.
- Promote clear communication, transparency, and professionalism in all club interactions.
- Support a positive and inclusive environment for players, parents, and coaches.
Requirements
Qualifications
Volleyball Background
- Strong volleyball playing or coaching background, preferably at the collegiate, elite club, or high-level high school level.
- Deep understanding of athlete development pathways in competitive club volleyball.
- Experience with USAV or similar club volleyball structures preferred.
Leadership & Management
- Proven leadership experience managing coaches, programs, or teams.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced seasonal environment.
