Description
OverviewDirectly supervises and implements sound agronomic and horticulture programs in accordance with PGCC's Quality Standards while working within the fiscal parameters of the property.
Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree (BA) preferably in Agronomy.
- Five to ten years related experience.
- State Pesticide Applicator License.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Ability to read and speak English/Spanish may be required in order to perform the duties of the job.
- Regularly lifts up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds.
Essential Responsibilities
- Develop budgeting and capital plans and manage departmental expenses in accordance with property directives.
- Provide timely and accurate reporting of financial and non-financial information as directed by the General Manager/COO.
- Implement agreed standards and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory standards and laws.
- Stay current on agronomic, water management, and horticulture best practices.
- Ensure proper mixing, calibration, and application of chemicals and fertilizers used on the golf course and throughout the community.
- Ensure associates obtain proper training and licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and in compliance with regulations.
- Maintain awareness of agronomic and horticulture activity on the golf course and community and provide feedback and direction to key staff members.
- Promote effective communication within the department.
- Provide leadership and a positive working environment that fosters teamwork, communication, ethical behavior, cleanliness, and a can-do attitude.
- Develop, train, coach, discipline, and mentor managers within the department.
- Interview, hire, train, plan, assign, and direct work; evaluate performance; reward and discipline associates; address complaints and resolve issues.
- Manage maintenance staff including Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Environmental Technical, Mechanic, Foreman, Irrigation Technicians, Greenskeepers, and Equipment Operators.
- Ensure effective orientation and ongoing training programs for new associates.
- Incorporate safe work practices in job performance.
