Description
Objective: To design, coordinate, and oversee all elements of athletic development and performance including lower and middle school fitness classes, and the strength, speed, agility, mobility, and conditioning program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and implement strength and conditioning programs in-season, off-season, and pre-season for all school-sanctioned athletic programs in a manner that reflects research-driven practices.
- Design and coordinate the fitness and athletic development curriculum for Grades 1st–8th, focusing on age-appropriate skill, strength, speed, agility, mobility, and conditioning.
- Educate students, staff, and families on topics related to fitness, nutrition, mental well-being, and performance optimization and sustainability.
- Work in cooperation with the sports medicine and/or athletic training staff in the rehabilitation and strengthening of injured athletes.
- Facilitate a collaborative relationship among coaches and sports medicine staff.
- Design and implement policies and procedures for the strength and conditioning program in accordance with the National Federation of State High School Associations and the NSCA Strength and Conditioning Professional Standards and Guidelines.
- Develop systems for tracking athlete attendance and athlete performance progress in conjunction with the sport coaches.
- Provide periodic reports to Director of Athletics and coaches summarizing team and individual progress metrics
- Conduct an annual needs-analysis for each sport team in conjunction with the sport coach.
- Reinforce expectations for athlete conduct that align with the school’s expectations for curricular and extra-curricular activities.
- Develop and manage program budgets, equipment procurement, and inventory of the weightroom
- Maintain appropriate certifications and ensure program compliance with all safety, legal, and ethical standards
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in education, kinesiology, or related field required.
- Three to five years teaching and/or coaching experience required. Experience in an independent school is preferred.
- NCSA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification required.
- First aid, CPR, and AED certifications required.
- Strong knowledge and teaching skills in analysis and techniques of strength training.
- Experience and/or expertise in strength and conditioning programming for middle and high school populations.
- Represent the school in the larger community in a positive manner that reflects the values of the school.
- Ability to interface and maintain effective relationships with students, faculty, administrators, and parents/guardians.
- Professional written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in G Suite required.
