Description
The Director of Career Development Services will provide leadership and strategic planning for the implementation, operation, and assessment of all facets of the Career Development Services unit, which focuses on transforming student scholars into career-oriented, technologically prepared professionals. The Director will be expected to implement a guided career pathways program that enhances students’ leadership and career fluency; coordinate faculty and staff engagement in the career pathways student success model, which promotes more proactive and intentional career advising; collaborate with faculty to facilitate opportunities for students to earn microcredentials and experiential learning experiences that will strengthen preparation for their chosen career fields; and provide strategic leadership for employer relations to expand and increase desired first destination placements for students and alumni.
Requirements
- Serve as primary champion for Career Development Services with internal (students, faculty, and staff) and external (alumni, employers, graduate/professional school recruiters) constituencies
- Ensure the provision of high-quality career development services for all students, to include individualized guidance on career exploration, resumes, interviews, applications, placement follow-ups, etc.
- Advise and support faculty in the development of co-curricular experiences that are aligned with students’ career interests and augment students’ work readiness
- Develop a co-curricular transcript that is creditable to employers
- Coordinate with deans to facilitate the engagement of academic advisory councils
- Expand the intellectual curricular community to include career-based stakeholders
- Initiate, maintain, and manage employer relations to establish career opportunity leads and networking opportunities for current students and alumni
- Coordinate with appropriate campus units to obtain student, alumni, and employer feedback to support continuous improvement initiatives
- Leverage all available technologies and resources to enhance student experiences with Career Development Services throughout matriculation and beyond
- Actively participate in local, state, regional, and national professional organizations related to collegiate career development
