Director of Electric Services

The City of Shelby (population 22,000) centrally locally between Asheville and Charlotte in the beautiful foothills of North Carolina, is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Director of Electric Services. The Director of Electric Services performs complex professional and administrative work planning, organizing, and directing the installation, operation, maintenance, repair, and expansion of the electric distribution system, serving as liaison to outside agencies, and coordinating projects. Work involves setting policies and goals under the direction of the Assistant City Manager with leadership responsibilities over all personnel within the department.

Qualified applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering, or related field and extensive experience within an electric utility including a minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible supervisory experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have demonstrated leadership and communication skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with municipal officials, employees, and the general public.

The City of Shelby offers competitive salaries and excellent benefits including but not limited to health & dental insurance, 401K contribution, and local government retirement system participation. The pay scale is $111,633 - $140,658 annually depending on experience.
