JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Golf is responsible for leading the overall vision, culture and strategic direction of Amelia National Golf Club’s golf operations in alignment with the Club’s mission, service standards, and long term objectives. This role provides both strategic oversight and handson leadership to ensure an exceptional golf experience for members and guests, consistently high service standards, strong financial performance, and compliance with Club policies and procedures.
Key responsibilities include staff leadership and development, tournament and instructional programming, retail and merchandising oversight, budgeting and variance explanation abilities, coordination with Golf Course Maintenance and Food & Beverage departments, and active representation of the club within the community and the golf industry.
DUTIES OR FUNCTIONS
Ø Provide leadership and direct oversight of all golf operations, including Assistant Golf Professionals, tournament staff, and golf shop associates.
Ø Ensure daily golf operations reflect the highest standards of service, professionalism, and member satisfaction expected at Amelia National. This includes overseeing the tee sheet management, starting procedures, and optimization of daily play.
Ø Coordinate closely with the Course Superintendent, Golf Course Maintenance team, and Assistant General Manager to oversee course conditions, daily setup, and playability.
Ø Develop, manage, and administer the annual golf operations budget; monitor revenues and expenses to meet financial objectives. Explain variances each month and on time. Analyze golf performance metrics.
Ø Oversee Golf Shop operations, including retail merchandising, equipment sales, inventory control, etc.
Ø Oversee outside golf operations, including cart fleet presentation, bag services, staging, practice areas, and cart staff coordination.
Ø Recruit, hire, train, coach, develop, evaluate, and discipline golf staff in accordance with HR policies and employment laws.
Ø Plan, promote, and execute tournaments, leagues, outings, club championships, and special events; ensure proper staffing and execution.
Ø Design and deliver comprehensive instructional programs for men, women, juniors, and beginners, including private lessons, clinics, and group programs.
Ø Engage actively with members by playing golf, hosting events, and fostering relationships that enhance the club culture and member experience.
Ø Develop and implement strategic initiatives to grow golf participation, retail performance and member engagement. Collaborate with Sales team to promote golf programs, events, and membership engagement initiatives.
Ø Work closely with the Food & Beverage team to ensure seamless coordination for tournaments, outings, and golfrelated events.
Ø Serve as a highly visible ambassador for Amelia National.
Ø Address member and guest concerns with professionalism, diplomacy, and discretion to maintain positive public relations.
Ø Communicate and enforce golf policies, procedures, and paceofplay standards.
Ø Stay current on industry trends, technology, teaching methods, and best practices to keep the Club competitive and relevant. Prepare and present regular operational reports and recommendations to the Assistant General Manager and ownership.
Ø Ensure adherence to all safety, security, and riskmanagement protocols within golf operations.
Ø Oversee handicap administration and ensure compliance with USGA rules.
Ø Ensure all golf facilities, practice areas, and operational spaces are maintained in a clean, organized, and first-class condition.
Ø Maintain an active presence during peak golf periods, major events, holidays and weekends to ensure operational excellence.
Ø Perform additional duties assigned by the Assistant General Manager.

CRITERIA FOR EVALUATION
Ø Ability to read and interpret financial statements, business reports, and professional publications.
Ø Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including public speaking.
Ø Strong mathematical aptitude, including percentages, commissions, and basic financial calculations.
Ø Ability to exercise sound judgment and decisionmaking in a fastpaced, serviceoriented environment.
Ø Working knowledge of standard computer applications and golf management systems.
OUALIFICATIONS
Ø Associate Degree or higher preferred.
Ø Graduate of an Accredited Golf Management Program preferred.
Ø Class A Member of the PGA of America (or PGA Apprentice in good standing) preferred.
Ø Minimum of 5–8 years of progressive golf operations leadership experience, preferably at a private club, resort or high-end facility.
Ø Prior experience as a Director of Golf, Head Golf Professional, or senior golf operations leader.
Ø Demonstrated supervisory and staff leadership experience.
Ø Strong understanding of golf course operations, retail management, and business principles.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ø Regularly lift up to 10 pounds; frequently lift up to 25 pounds.
Ø Requires manual dexterity and the ability to use hands for handling equipment and merchandise.
Ø Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Ø Primarily outdoors with regular exposure to Florida weather conditions, including heat and humidity.
Ø Moderate noise levels.
Ø Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures during events and operations.
