Executive Director
The Lexington Pride Center (LPC) is seeking an Executive Director (ED) to provide comprehensive leadership for the organization, overseeing all operations while serving as the organization's public advocate. This role combines strategic vision with practical management to advance the LPC’s mission, creating greater awareness of issues impacting the LGBTQIA+ community, and providing support services in central Kentucky. The ED partners with the Board to ensure organizational sustainability, promotes diversity and inclusion initiatives, and secures necessary funding through effective budget management and fundraising strategies.
An ideal candidate will combine passion for the LGBTQIA+ community with proven nonprofit management experience, strong financial acumen, and a collaborative leadership style that embraces diversity and fosters community connection.
Key Responsibilities
- Champion the LPC's mission through effective leadership and community advocacy
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the organization's history, culture, programs, structure, stakeholders, and finances
- Build strong partnerships with Board leadership to advance fundraising, strategic planning, and governance
- Oversee financial operations including budgeting, financial controls, and long-term funding strategies that ensure sustainability
- Evaluate programs for effectiveness, identify expansion opportunities, and ensure services complement rather than duplicate community resources, while maintaining fiscal accountability
- Lead fundraising efforts by enhancing existing strategies and developing new revenue streams through grants, planned giving, and income-generating programs
- Serve as a visible LGBTQ+ advocate, positioning the LPC as a catalyst for policy advancement at local, state, and national levels
- Expand the organization's reach by developing programming that attracts diverse, multigenerational audiences
- Advance equity, inclusion, and belonging through targeted outreach to underrepresented communities within the LGBTQ+ spectrum
- Direct all operational aspects of the organization to fulfill its mission and strategic objectives
Compensation and Benefits
- $58,000 annual salary
- Full-time, exempt
- 30 days of paid time off annually

Hours, Location, and Travel
- Primarily in-office at the Lexington Pride Center from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Monday and Friday are remote or in-office optional.
- Work may be conducted in other locations as required by programming, special events, networking, and community engagement.
- Some regional, statewide, and national travel is required.
Requirements
Experience, Skills, and Qualities
- Bachelor’s degree
- At least 3 years of experience in a leadership role in the nonprofit sector
- Experience securing funding, including grants, major gifts, and annual campaigns in amounts exceeding $50,000 total annually
- Extensive and successful grant writing experience
- A deep knowledge of and commitment to issues impacting the LGBTQIA+ community in Kentucky and nationally
- Experience managing staff and coordinating volunteers
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an eye for storytelling and opportunities to advance the LPC’s mission in the public sphere
- Willingness to think strategically, take initiative, and work collaboratively
