Description
About the Campaign
Darden Copeland is a Democrat running for Congress in Tennessee's newly redrawn 7th Congressional District. This is a genuinely competitive race: recent polling suggests a 5-point race, and Democrats improved their margin in this district by more than 12 points in the December 2025 special election.
Position Overview
The Field Director owns the campaign's voter contact program end to end. In a race polling within 5 points, the field program is the margin of victory. You will design and execute the plan to knock, call, and text our way to the win number, manage the Regional Field Directors and Volunteer Coordinator, and run the GOTV operation for the November general election.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the field plan, including voter contact goals (doors, calls, texts), win number, and turf strategy across the district
- Hire, train, and manage Regional Field Directors and field staff; oversee the Volunteer Coordinator
- Own VAN/VoteBuilder administration — cutting turf, building phone bank lists, and reporting daily voter contact metrics to the Campaign Manager
- Design and run the GOTV program, including early vote chase and Election Day operations
- Coordinate with allied organizations, labor, and county parties on coordinated voter contact
- Manage the field budget and weekly reporting
Qualifications
- At least two cycles of field experience, including one in a leadership role (Deputy Field Director or above preferred)
- Expert-level VAN/VoteBuilder skills, including turf cutting and list building
- Experience managing staff and hitting aggressive voter contact goals
- Familiarity with Tennessee or comparable Southern/rural-suburban districts a plus
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Compensation & Details
Salary commensurate with experience. Position runs through the November 2026 general election and is based in Tennessee's 7th District (Nashville area preferred). Nights and weekends required, as is standard on a competitive campaign.
