Hackensack Meridian Health is undergoing an ambitious expansion and restructuring of our Division of Gastroenterology in Central New Jersey. Under the visionary leadership of our new Regional Chair of the Department of Medicine, Professor Adeel Butt—an internationally renowned clinician, educator, and scholar—we are seeking experienced, Board-Certified Gastroenterologists to join our rapidly growing program.
This is a unique opportunity for candidates with proven clinical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a passion for academics to help shape the future of gastroenterology care in the region. Multiple positions are currently available for outstanding candidates.
Clinical & Academic Highlights:
- Provide high-quality clinical care and perform comprehensive gastrointestinal endoscopy procedures.
- Play a vital role in medical education by teaching medical students and Internal Medicine residents.
- Participate in a collaborative, equitable on-call schedule (including shared weekend and holiday coverage).
Administrative & Leadership Highlights:
- Actively serve on Hospital and/or Department Quality, Process Improvement, or Medical Staff Committees, as assigned by the Chair of the Department of Medicine.
- Engage in educational and programmatic initiatives in coordination with the Residency Program Director, Department Chair, or the Dean of the School of Medicine.
- Champion and participate in ongoing Quality Improvement (QI) activities to elevate patient care.
Opportunity Requirements:
- M.D. or D.O. degree from a recognized Medical or Osteopathic School.
- Successful completion of a Fellowship in Gastroenterology.
- Board Certified in Gastroenterology.
- Possess, or have the ability to obtain, a New Jersey Medical License.
- Valid DEA and CDS.

- Education and Certifications: Degrees attained, residencies, fellowships, board certifications, research, and publications.
- Productivity: Levels of productivity, quality and patient satisfaction.
- Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in relevant skills and competencies.
- Geographic Location: Cost of living and market rates for the specific location.
- Internal Equity: Compensation is determined in a manner consistent with compensation ranges for similar roles within the specialty and/or sub-specialty.
- Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered.
In addition to our compensation for full-time and part-time (20+ hours/week) positions, HMH offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits.
