Description
OverviewThe Golf and Recreation Director is responsible for the successful administration of all facets of golf and recreation programming on behalf of Mill Creek MetroParks. The Golf and Recreation Director is responsible for all golf and recreation-related activities.
Experience Required
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Business Management, Sports Management, Turfgrass Maintenance, Recreation, or a related field
- Minimum of five (5) years progressive experience in managing the operation of a public or private golf course or recreation facility as a General Manager, Assistant General Manager, Golf Professional, Assistant Golf Professional, Director of Golf Operations, Assistant Director of Golf Operations, or equivalent
- Must possess a valid Driver's License
- Must possess or be willing to obtain CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification within six months of hire
- PGA Member or registered PGA Apprentice preferred
Essential Responsibilities
Golf Operations and Programming
40%
- Lead the promotion, development, and coordination of both short- and long-term golf and recreation programming plans and events throughout the MetroParks
- Oversee all phases of plan development related to golf and recreation programs, events, tournaments, and clinics
- Prepare, monitor, and oversee the administration of all golf and recreation programs, leagues, events, and clinics
- Serve as both a liaison between and a resource for the MetroParks and the golf and recreation community
- Prepare accurate estimates of program costs and develop sufficient cost recovery formulas for the corresponding programs
- Oversee and ensure compliance with all contracts and documentation requirements related to special events, rental and field-use agreements, and league partnerships
- Ensure the appropriate promotion, successful implementation, and support of the golf and recreation programs, leagues, events, and clinics offered by the MetroParks
- Prepare accurate estimates of program costs and develop sufficient cost recovery formulas for the corresponding programs
Supervision of Related Personnel and Recreation Activities

- Supervise various full- and part-time employees, ensuring that daily actions and attitudes are of a positive and professional manner
- Provide leadership, direct supervision, and support to assigned employees and volunteers
- Deliver regular performance feedback and issue discipline, training, and coaching as required
- Review, approve, and maintain all necessary departmental records, including but not limited to timecards, program data, and purchase orders
- Participate in the hiring, evaluation, development, and retention of team members
- Ensure all golf and recreation facilities, fields, structures, and grounds are safe, clean, and well-maintained; inspect facilities and equipment for damage and wear; and coordinate special cleaning, repairs, or replacements as needed
- Ensure that all organizational policies, procedures, and safety practices are followed
- Direct the ordering, scheduling, renting, delivery, and storage of supplies, materials, tools, and equipment
Departmental Functions

- Provide cross-departmental support related to golf and recreation activities
- Prepare, implement, and monitor the Annual Plan of Operation and corresponding budget
- Ensure departmental compliance with all MetroParks operating policies and procedures
- Maintain records of all necessary items in accordance with local, state, and federal laws
- Deliver public presentations and represent the organization to promote golf activities
- Perform other duties as assigned
