Position Description:
The Project Manager (PM) is accountable and responsible for "order fulfillment" from the view of three major stakeholders—the facility, the clinicians and the company. This includes pre-inception planning, inception management and ongoing maintenance and management. Provides professional program management for all on-boarding, national and internal development programs. Acts as a central contact for information on all company projects (on-boarding and internal) and manages activities to develop and standardize programs and procedures across all departments. Ensures that team and line management concurrence is reached on project objectives and meets the planned objectives to achieve the company’s goals of timely and quality-focused transitions and on-boarding of new facilities for all internal projects driving procedural reform and greater efficiency.
There is a putative shift in the perioperative care paradigm. With projected economic and access pressures, thoughtful delineation of duties, with an eye on being efficient in both time and geography, will be precursors to success. Moreover, the tenets to perioperative efficiency will become natural areas of great study and those strategic and tactical plans that have, at their core data-based affirmations arrived at through scientific study, will reign sovereign over those based on purely best intentions. The PM is accountable for strategic, tactical and operational efforts and work products following therefrom.
The PM works closely with Senior Management to develop strategy, establish objectives, and monitor team progress. Makes recommendations regarding project objectives, resource requirements, and strategic direction to the Chief Administrative Officer and senior management.
Compensation Range: $80,000 - $150,000/year, commensurate with experience. Benefit-eligible (medical, dental, vision, 401(k), basic life. Ancillary coverages available).
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Location & Required Travel: Fully remote position, with travel to facilities across the U.S. as needed for site implementations required. Occasional travel to the Westchester County, NY headquarters for corporate meetings and events as needed.
Responsibilities:
I. New Anesthesia Practices:
- Oversight of creation and ongoing management of new anesthesia practices serving as a point of contact for all clients (internal and external).
- Execute or ensure PM team member will:
- Develop and maintain good working relationship, both internally and externally with internal/external clients to foster positive interactions and ultimately support achieving desired project outcomes.
- Travel to clients as necessary for start-ups, to prepare the NAP, and to be available during the transition as needed for a minimum of 6 months after start date to ensure smooth transitions between project phases from initiation through on-boarding transition for facility.
- Within a start-up transition ensure the following by coordination with C-Suite and related departments:
- Completion of legal and tax paperwork, contracts, medical license applications, etc.
- Manage and tracks program progress as assigned on a continual basis, identifying and tracking both project and inter-departmental functional issues, scope issues at project and program level, timeline issues, and budget issues.
- Oversee and ensure facility staffing, orientations, logistics, quality and compliance issues.
- Work proactively with project management team to achieve timely resolution of these issues in order to achieve approved company objectives.
- Communication Management is to support Annual Reviews, manage scope, timeline and financial changes through tracking variances at the program level.
- Ensure timely, accurate and comprehensive project and program information is available to C-Suite and Senior Management and the wider organization.
- Create Key Project Management reports, such as status reports for each project, weekly updates, project plans and post-project analysis.
- Responsible for driving new initiatives and instilling best practice at all departmental levels in association with senior level management.
II. Education, Research, and Special Projects:
- Maintain oversight of internal LMS/Learning Management System, to include CME / CNE accreditation and partnerships, course development, technical oversight, and strategic development.
- Identify subject matter experts for new content, prepare budgets, and plan internal marketing efforts with appropriate departments.
- Work on partnerships and programs including:
- Anesthesia Nursing Student Program.
- Anesthesia Residency Program.
- Internship Program Development.
- Develop, research, write or commission academic/peer-reviewed journal articles and presentations as needed, at times in cooperation with the Marketing department, as needed by CAO.
- Support research and projects on perioperative surgical home and its efficacy in reducing case cancellations, case delays and the attendant financial and clinical outcomes; as well as how an acute pain service along greater interpolation into the post-surgical process can facilitate timely discharge and reduce avoidable readmissions.
III. Team Oversight / Leadership:
- Lead and coordinate facility implementations to balance work across team members taking into consideration non-implementation workload as well.
- Oversee additional educational/ research efforts of team members to ensure timely completion of special projects including:
- Physician Reward and Recognition Plan, PASS and QA programs: implementation, data collection, entry and analytics, monitoring performance and outcomes and audience-specific deliverables.
- Industry research concerning perioperative, anesthesia and quality-related related health care organizations such as CMS, the Joint Commission, and IHI.
- Reading and presenting monthly HFMA and Medical Economics articles.
- Participate in and provide support for a variety of meetings and committees to include but not limited to the Medical Advisory Board (MAB), the QA Steering Committee, the Patient Safety Organization (PSO), the Medical Staff Meetings and Leadership Retreat.
- In association with the departmental managers, responsible for supporting departmental and corporate initiatives to drive process improvements.
Requirements
Skills/Qualifications:
- Experience with and knowledge of healthcare regulations (HIPAA, CMS guidelines).
- Data analysis and reporting skills.
- Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies.
- Budgeting and financial tracking skills.
- Project management tools.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, Nursing, Health Information Management from an accredited academic institution required. MBA, MHA, MPH preferred.
- 3-5 years’ experience in healthcare project management required.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
- Experience in hospital mergers, practice acquisitions, and service line administration heavily preferred.
- Experience with perioperative, anesthesia, and quality-related related healthcare organizations such as CMS, the Joint Commission, and IHI heavily preferred.
