Leadership Role at Busy Level II Trauma Center in Houston, TX

Extant Healthcare is seeking an Associate Trauma Medical Director to join our dynamic surgical team at HCA Houston Healthcare Houston Northwest. The ideal candidate will help to provide clinical leadership and oversight of the trauma program, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care while driving performance improvement, patient safety, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Trauma Medical Director (TMD) in overall clinical oversight of the trauma program
• Analyze trauma registry/TQIP data to identify trends, outliers, and opportunities
• Participate in peer review, morbidity & mortality (M&M), and case reviews
• Ensure compliance with ACS verification standards and regulatory requirements
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Participate in trauma call rotation.
• Conduct and participate in clinical research and education.
• Mentor and train residents and medical students.
• Assist in developing and maintaining trauma clinical pathways, standardized order sets, and evidence-based protocols and guidelines.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of surgical techniques and advancements in trauma care.

Qualifications:

• Board Certification in General Surgery and Fellowship training in Trauma Surgery.
• Current, unrestricted medical license in the state.
• Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong decision-making abilities and ability to work under pressure.
