The Opportunity:
CHP Health is seeking a Part-Time Medical Director/Designated Health Authority to join our team at Whatcom County Jail in Bellingham, Washington.
This on-site role combines direct medical care with clinical and administrative leadership. The Medical Director will provide approximately 8 hours of service per week, completed Monday through Friday, with no weekend hours required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct medical care to patients within the facility
- Provide clinical leadership and oversight of medical services
- Collaborate with the HSA and Corporate Medical Director/CMO
- Support quality improvement, compliance, and patient safety initiatives
- Ensure medical services meet contractual, NCCHC, ACA, and professional standards
- Serve as the facility’s final clinical authority for medical decisions
- Support and provide guidance to the onsite healthcare team
Requirements
- Current, unrestricted Washington physician license
- Current DEA registration and ability to meet applicable prescribing requirements
- Current CPR certification
- Board certification recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties
- Minimum 1 year of primary care experience
- Correctional healthcare, administrative, or managed-care experience preferred
- Strong communication, leadership, and computer skills
