- Part-Time Physican
Description
The physician will serve as a primary care provider in Casa’s faith-based clinical setting, delivering high-quality, compassionate medical care to uninsured and underserved patients. The physician will work closely with volunteer providers, clinical staff, and members of the spiritual care team to support Casa’s integrated model of care.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Care
Provide direct patient care, including medical assessments, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and education.
Manage chronic diseases, acute illnesses, preventive care, and referrals within the clinic’s scope.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all patient encounters in the EMR (Athena).
Support continuity of care and coordinate with dental, spiritual care, and referral partners as needed.
Collaboration & Leadership
Provide clinical supervision and support to Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), including Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants, ensuring quality of care and adherence to protocols.
Collaborate with volunteer medical providers, nurses, and medical assistants to ensure consistent, high-quality care.
Supervise and mentor medical students or residents when applicable.
Participate in provider team meetings, chart reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
Spiritual Integration
Support the mission of integrating spiritual care into clinical practice by working respectfully alongside spiritual care volunteers and encouraging holistic care conversations when appropriate.
Attendance at weekly and monthly team, department and enterprise meetings and functions outside of clinic hours.
Administrative & Operational Support
Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical protocols, standards, and best practices.
Assist the Physician in ensuring compliance with clinical policies and state/federal regulations.
Participate in periodic quality assurance and chart audit activities.
Evaluating clinic-wide patient outcomes and collaborating with Executive Director, Clinic Manager, APP, Physician, and Quality Assurance Committee on strategies to improve patient outcomes.
Building and maintaining relationships with community social service partners, including referral resources; representing Casa at functions as requested; attending all staff or other special meetings as requested.
Requirements
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skill Requirements
Licensed MD or DO in the state of Texas (or eligible for Texas licensure).
Board-certified or board-eligible in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or related primary care specialty.
Experience working in underserved or free clinic settings is a plus.
Strong alignment with Casa’s Christian mission and a desire to serve in a faith-based, team-oriented environment.
Comfortable working alongside volunteers and mentoring less experienced clinicians.
CPR & AED certification required (must be obtained within 30 days of employment).
Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
