PGY2 Preliminary Position – Start Date: June 17, 2026 (Orientation), Clinical Start: June 24, 2026
The Boston Medical Center – Brighton General Surgery Residency Program is accepting applications for one PGY2 Preliminary General Surgery position for the 2026–2027 academic year.
Program Overview
The BMC–Brighton General Surgery Residency provides rigorous academic training within a highvolume, communityfocused environment. Residents gain exposure to a broad spectrum of surgical pathology while working alongside faculty committed to excellence in clinical care, education, and professional development. PGY2 residents rotate through core services including acute care surgery, general surgery, surgical critical care, and subspecialty services that support progressive operative and clinical autonomy.

- Medical School Transcript and Diploma
- MSPE (Dean’s Letter)
- USMLE/COMLEX Transcript
- PGY1 ABSITE Score Report
- ACGME Case Log: Defined Category Report
- PGY1 Rotation Schedule
- Three Letters of Recommendation, including one from the current Program Director
- Any available Milestones or competencybased evaluations
- ECFMG Certificate (if applicable)

Requirements
Applicants must:
- Have successfully completed one year of ACGME accredited general surgery residency training in good standing.
- Demonstrate satisfactory academic and clinical performance during PGY1.
- Hold appropriate certification, if applicable (e.g., ECFMG).
