Position Summary
The Philanthropy Officer is responsible for building meaningful relationships with individual donors and growing philanthropic support through strategic cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. This mid-level fundraising position will manage a portfolio of individual donors, cultivate new philanthropic relationships, and inspire meaningful investment in Blue Mountain Clinic's mission. This position is ideal for a fundraiser who enjoys connecting with people, telling compelling stories of impact, and building lasting partnerships with donors who share a commitment to healthcare access and reproductive freedom.

About Blue Mountain Clinic
Blue Mountain Clinic is seeking a passionate and relationship-centered Philanthropy Officer to help sustain and grow the community support that makes our work possible. Since 1977, Blue Mountain Clinic has provided compassionate, evidence-based healthcare in Montana, including primary care, reproductive healthcare, gender-affirming care, and abortion care. As one of the nation's few independent nonprofit clinics integrating these services, philanthropy is essential to advancing our mission and ensuring access to care.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Drive individual giving strategies and annual fund campaigns.
- Manage a portfolio of individual major donors and prospects.
- Work collaboratively with the development team to scale development activities and implement robust donor stewardship practices.
- Conduct donor visits, phone calls, and virtual meetings to deepen relationships and secure annual and major gifts.
- Identify and qualify new donor prospects through research, networking, and community engagement.
- Draft gift proposals, donor communications, stewardship reports, and acknowledgment letters.
- Collaborate with program and clinical staff to translate patient impact into compelling donor communications.
- Support annual giving campaigns, special events, and fundraising initiatives.
- Maintain accurate donor records and activity reports within Bloomerang CRM.
- Identify opportunities for and help facilitate house parties in four Montana communities outside Missoula County annually.
- Represent Blue Mountain Clinic at community tabling events and other public-facing engagements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two to five years of experience in fundraising, development, nonprofit advancement, sales, or relationship management.
- Demonstrated success building meaningful relationships and achieving fundraising or revenue goals.
- Ability to manage CRM data hygiene and protocols. Experience with Bloomerang CRM a plus.
- Ability to analyze fundraising data performance and report on progress toward individual giving goals would be a plus
- Strong organizational skills and project management abilities.
- Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including public speaking.
- Ability to approach and engage with people in public settings.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong collaborative spirit.
- Commitment to reproductive rights, social justice, and inclusive healthcare.
Compensation & Benefits
Annual salary of $55,000 - $65,000, dependent on experience
