Description
The Auburn University Harrison College of Pharmacy (AUHCOP) is seeking a Professor of Experiential Practice to support the experiential curriculum within a dynamic student-centered learning environment. This is a 9-month, 0.8 FTE, non-tenurable appointment designed to collaborate with HCOP faculty and staff to deliver high-quality experiential education experiences.
The position is based on the Auburn campus but includes distance teaching with the Mobile, Alabama campus. The candidate selected will support Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPE), Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPE), and Interprofessional Education (IPE) activities within the Clinical Affairs and Outreach division, with responsibilities that include direct patient care and student precepting.
Responsibilities
Experiential Education & Precepting
- Precept Pharm.D. students in IPPE, APPE, and IPE experiences, including population health, ambulatory care, simulation-based activities, and direct patient care activities
- Facilitate student learning through direct patient care and interprofessional team activities.
- Provide formative and summative feedback, evaluate student performance, and support development of clinical reasoning, communication, and professionalism
- Serve as a role model and mentor for student pharmacists across all professional years.
- Participate in quality assurance of experiential education, including alignment with ACPE standards and programmatic outcomesInterprofessional Education (IPE) Engagement
- Collaborate with faculty and healthcare professionals across disciplines to design, implement, and facilitate IPE activities (e.g., clinics, simulations, team-based care experiences).
- Promote team-based, patient-centered care and reinforce interprofessional competencies.
Clinical Practice & Patient Care
- Provide direct patient care services within AUHCOP-affiliated practice sites.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to deliver evidence-based, interdisciplinary care.
- Utilize electronic health records to document patient care activities.
- Identify patients for pharmacist-led interventions using population health metrics.
Program Collaboration & Service
- Engage with Experiential Programs Office (EPO) faculty and staff to support IPPE/APPE/IPE operations and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in college, committee, and service activities as assigned.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications include all of the following:
- The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment begins and continue working legally for the term of employment.
- Applicants must have earned a Doctor of Pharmacy or BS degree from an ACPE-accredited college or school of pharmacy and be licensed in the state of Alabama at the time of employment.
Desired Qualifications include the following:
- Additional consideration will be given to candidates who have a residency, board certification, extensive work experience in a clinical or academic environment, or other relevant credentials.

- The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal, clinical, practice management and organizational skills;
- Ability to facilitate, motivate, and influence others;
- Demonstrate exceptional teamwork skills.
