We are reaching out to you because Central New York Psychiatric Center (CNYPC) has many exciting career opportunities that are available for forensically trained Psychiatrists, and we ask that you share this information with your fellows.
CNYPC, operated by the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH), is the only statewide correctional/mental health system to be fully accredited by the Joint Commission. CNYPC provides a full range of care and treatment to individuals incarcerated in the State and County Correctional System at their secure forensic inpatient facility located in Marcy, NY and at a network of prison based mental health units for inmate-patients in the custody of the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS). The individuals served include:
- Incarcerated individuals sentenced to State and local correctional facilities in need of inpatient care.
- Pre-trial detainees in local correctional facilities in need of inpatient care.
- Felony defendants found incompetent to stand trial.
Psychiatrists at CNYPC are part of a diverse interdisciplinary forensic team focused on providing culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, and evidence-based treatment including:
- Competency restoration
- Insanity acquittee management
- Correctional mental health services
- Treatment over objection
Psychiatrists at CNYPC have an opportunity to collaborate with nationally recognized forensic psychiatry experts on complex cases as well as the possibility of providing training and mentoring forensic fellows from various programs including SUNY Upstate.
Psychiatrists are eligible for the following benefits and opportunities:
- Starting salary of $283,577.
- Psychiatrist Loan Repayment Program offering up to $120,000.
- Competitive salaries including salary enhancements for board certification in Forensics.
- Supplemental income of up to 50% by volunteering to provide evening, night and weekend coverage if working inpatient.
