Job Summary As a Research Nurse 1 within the Clinical Research Department , you will support clinical research studies from study initiation through completion while working closely with Principal Investigators, research teams, sponsors, and clinical departments. This role is responsible for identifying and screening potential research participants, coordinating study activities, and ensuring clinical trials are conducted in accordance with study protocols, regulatory requirements, and applicable guidelines.The Research Nurse 1 will review patient medical records and clinical information to identify patients who may qualify for clinical trials, communicate with clinical care teams regarding potential participants, and assist with the enrollment and ongoing coordination of research participants.
Experience in clinical research is required, with cardiac/cardiovascular clinical research experience strongly preferred. Experience with both medical device and pharmaceutical/drug clinical trials is highly desirable.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Essential Functions of the Role
• Support Principal Investigators and the Clinical Research team in the coordination and execution of clinical trials from study start-up through closeout.
• Review patient charts, medical records, and clinical information to identify potential candidates for clinical trials based on study-specific inclusion and exclusion criteria.
• Screen and assess potential research participants for clinical trial eligibility while maintaining HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
• Coordinate patient recruitment, screening, enrollment, follow-up, and other study-related activities.
• Support cardiac/cardiovascular clinical research studies, as well as other assigned clinical trials.
• Assist with medical device and pharmaceutical/drug trials, ensuring study activities are completed according to approved protocols and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with physicians, investigators, nursing teams, Pharmacy, laboratory services, and other departments to support clinical research activities.
• Review new study protocols, informed consent documents, research materials, and sponsor requirements.
• Assist Principal Investigators and research leadership with implementation of study protocols and required research procedures.
• Provide education and study-related information to healthcare professionals and research participants as appropriate.
• Coordinate with Pharmacy and other departments on clinical research projects and study-specific requirements.
• Maintain accurate and timely research documentation, including source documentation and study records.
• Assist with resolving study queries and ensuring required information is complete and submitted within established timelines.
• Assist with study closeout activities, including returning study supplies, disposing of unused investigational materials, and ensuring study documentation is complete.
• Assist with preparation of final reports and documentation for the Institutional Review Board (IRB).
• Utilize the Study Assistant Clinical Trials Management System and other required research systems in accordance with departmental standards.
• Maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, institutional, and study-specific research requirements.
Key Success Factors
• Clinical research experience, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting.
• Strong understanding of clinical trial processes, including patient identification, screening, enrollment, study visits, and closeout activities.
• Experience reviewing medical records and clinical information to determine potential patient eligibility for research studies.
• Cardiac/cardiovascular clinical research experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with medical device and/or pharmaceutical clinical trials preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive research activities while meeting strict deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with physicians, investigators, research teams, patients, and other healthcare professionals.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to learn and effectively utilize clinical trial management systems and other research technology.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary research team.

• Associate's degree.
• Registered Nurse (RN) License.
