Seeking a Pediatric Neurologist in Northern New Jersey
Rutgers New Jersey Medical School is seeking highly qualified clinically-oriented Neurologist for Pediatric Epilepsy subspecialty position in Newark, NJ. This position complements our practice service lines in a large, community-based academic medical center. In partnership with major health systems in Northern New Jersey, we are seeking career-oriented, highly-motivated candidates who will be part of a growing clinical service.
A summary of general duties is listed but not limited to the following:
- Participate in Call and weekend rounds
- Participate in Floor Service
- Supervise and provide care in Outpatient Clinic sessions
- Work closely with emergency physicians to care for patients coming in through the emergency room.
- Educate and mentor fellows, residents, and medical students
- Participate in Community Outreach.
Pediatric Epileptology
- Participate in Child Neurology Call and weekend rounds at UH and NBI
- Participate in Floor Service at UH and NBI
- Reads pediatric and adult patient EEG reports for University Hospital
- Supervise residents and provide care in our Pediatric Seizure Clinic weekly
- Collaborate with emergency physicians and other clinical teams to support timely neurological evaluation and care.
- Supervise, educate, and mentor fellows, residents, and medical students.
- Participate in community outreach to promote awareness of pediatric epilepsy and access to care.
Vascular Neurology
- Provide up to 18 weeks of inpatient stroke service per year
- Participate in brain attack team (BAT calls, only on weeks while on service at UH)
- Participate in general neurology clinic 1xweek
- Provide weekend rounds at UH (approximately 1 in 9 call days)
- Develop an outpatient clinical practice in cerebrovascular disorders at Rutgers NJMS
Candidate Qualifications:
- MD or DO degree.
- Board certification or board eligibility in Neurology.
- Fellowship training in Epilepsy or Clinical Neurophysiology with a pediatric epilepsy focus.
- Eligibility for New Jersey medical licensure.
- Commitment to collaborative care, medical education, and clinical service growth.
