Occupational Therapist – Deliver Meaningful Impact
Are you passionate about empowering people to live more independently and meaningfully? At VisAbility, we’re looking for an experienced and motivated Occupational Therapist to deliver high-quality, person-centred services that make a real difference.
About the Role
In this role, you will work closely with adult clients with a vision impairment to build functional independence and ensure they can access the right supports to achieve their goals. You’ll be part of an integrated, multidisciplinary environment that values collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Deliver person-centred therapy services that support clients to achieve meaningful outcomes and increased independence
- Contribute to a seamless, integrated service model aligned with best-practice therapy approaches
- Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and design, implement and review tailored therapy programs
- Prescribe assistive technology, equipment and aids to enhance client outcomes
- Ensure all services meet VisAbility standards, policies and contractual requirements
- Maintain accurate and timely client records, case plans and documentation within the Client Management System
- Identify and escalate service delivery risks or issues to the Program Manager
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement through feedback into VisAbility’s Process Mapping System
- Support the profession through student supervision, coaching and mentoring
- Provide clinical supervision where directed
- Undertake additional responsibilities as required to support team and organisational outcomes
Requirements
What You’ll Bring
You are a confident and client-focused Occupational Therapist who thrives in a dynamic and values-driven environment.
- Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy and current AHPRA registration
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in disability, community or health settings
- Strong understanding of relevant legislation, standards and contemporary practice across disability and aged care sectors
- Demonstrated commitment to person-centred practice, with the ability to translate principles into measurable outcomes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with clients, families and stakeholders
- Strong analytical and written communication skills, including preparation of clear and complex reports
- Confidence in using a variety of communication strategies and tools to support client engagement
- A solutions-focused mindset with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement
- Solid understanding of consumer-directed care models in disability and aged care
- Ability to travel to client appointments as required
Highly Regarded
Experience supporting people with vision impairment, disability and/or acquired brain injury
Knowledge of NDIS and My Aged Care funding frameworks
Proven experience in assistive technology prescription and recommendations
