Position Summary:
The Philipsburg-Osceola Area School District is seeking a dedicated, student-centered Speech-Language Pathologist to provide comprehensive speech and language services to students with communication disorders. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with educators, families, administrators, and related service providers to support student achievement and promote effective communication skills that enhance educational success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct evaluations and assessments to identify speech, language, voice, fluency, and communication disorders.
- Interpret assessment results and prepare comprehensive evaluation reports.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for eligible students.
- Provide direct and indirect speech-language therapy services in individual and group settings.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, school psychologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and other educational professionals to support student progress.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, IEP meetings, reevaluations, and other student support meetings.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, service logs, progress reports, and compliance records in accordance with federal, state, and district requirements.
- Utilize evidence-based practices and interventions to address communication needs.
- Assist in the development of communication strategies and accommodations for students in educational settings.
- Monitor student progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Provide consultation and training to staff and families regarding communication disorders and effective intervention strategies.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information and records.
- Stay current with developments in speech-language pathology and special education regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education or designee.
- Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Valid Pennsylvania Speech-Language Pathologist Educational Specialist Certificate or eligibility for certification.
- Pennsylvania licensure in Speech-Language Pathology preferred, as applicable.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association preferred.
- Experience working with school-aged children preferred.
- Knowledge of IDEA, Chapter 14 regulations, special education procedures, and IEP development.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to move throughout school buildings and classrooms.
- Ability to lift and carry educational materials and equipment as needed.
- Ability to perform duties requiring prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and computer use.
