Join our dynamic clinical team as a Substance Abuse Counselor and make a meaningful impact on individuals battling addiction and behavioral health challenges. The Substance Abuse/Outreach Counselor reports to the Clinical Director and Programs Director and serves as a member of the Clinical Team.   The Substance Abuse/Outreach Counselor’s primary responsibility is to provide individual, family and group counseling.   Youth & Family Services is a fast-growing nonprofit organization who works to provide support for children, youth, and families in our community. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Gather intake information on referrals.  Interview client and/or guardian and assess each client to include a psychological, social and educational perspective.  
2. Maintain accurate case files on each client; including progress notes, service plans, and assessment forms.
3. Provide youth advocacy, tutoring, mentoring, case management, and counseling services as needed.  Counseling includes individual, group and family counseling over topics including but not limited to drug and alcohol, trauma, educational and vocation counseling. Depending on credentials and appropriate level of training.
4. Assume responsibility for personal development keeping updated on current knowledge, research, and counseling techniques.  Attend required workshops relevant to job description and complete required continuing education.
5. Provide planned services at a location agreeable to both parties that will accommodate the needs of clients.
6. If counseling sessions are conducted on school property, do so under the direction and cooperation of the school staff in a manner that will not interfere with other major scholastic activities and classes.
7. Participate in agency's clinical on-call and crisis management protocol. 
8. Arrange schedule in order to deliver a minimum of 50% hours of direct client services per month. 
9. Attend speaking engagements to represent and educate the community regarding agency and counseling services as needed.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s Degree in related field
Experience in non-profit setting
Counseling licensure or under supervision
